A review that seeks to be good but rather gets fair.

To the North is a movie about kindness, moral dilemmas, and the inability to escape. The story is worth telling and presents you with a whole other world far away into the ocean. But I have to be fair. The movie is quite slow, and the dialogues are not well written and kill the story. The sound is amazing at some points, but the music will go better with a movie with more suspense and action. The actors are good, and I believe that with better dialogue, we would see them in an even better light. The camera is amazing, which is one of the best things in the movie. If you want to watch an independent festival movie, this is the right choice, but if you expect great cinema move along.

I saw this film at an international film festival - Kviff 23. After a long day full of watching films this film kept me on the edge of my seat. The music and camera are spot on! It delivers a great atmosphere and it's astonishing how much it did with such a simple premise. The actors in the film are amazing, considering there a lot of scenes with intense close ups at their faces. The story line is not black and white, and honestly it made me anxious as the film's ambience put me in the shoes of not just the main character but others and I found myself feeling for them more than I could have imagined.
