I didn't want to watch this movie at first because of the low ratings and low budget. I figured it would be terrible and boring. But this movie had a great message that Jesus died for us, every single one of us and we live in a broken world but through the darkness Jesus still died for us and continues to love us and call us to follow him. I don't know much about the true stories this movie is based on but even throwing that aside it was still a powerful movie with a very true message. I have never watched a movie that even through bad acting could grab my soul and work in my heart. "He is the master of my fate, He is the captain of my soul" Definitely worth watching.

Ambitious is a good word for this movie. I think they hit the mark.

"Real" lives up to it's title. It is a complicated and thought provoking movie, with interwoven and interrelated plot-lines and messages. It's gritty, messy, and yes, real.
Jesus is presented in a truly fascinating and original way, and the parables told are new, yet utterly Biblical. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Watched with my 20 year old non-practicing Christian son and he also enjoyed it and was equally impressed.
Definitely not your typical Christian movie, and definitely not OK for little kids, but neither would a large chunk of the Bible be if it were made into a realistic movie. This is a great, great movie for teens and any mature, sophisticated movie buffs and Christians.

very well written faith based film

Extremely well written. Acting is earnest if not experienced. But this one is watched for the writing.
Like so many other films with a low budget, the acting is what people focus on. I watched this openly religious film in a room full of people. Everyone watching was openly moved. Their were several tears.
If you can look past the missed delivery on a few lines, and lack of emotion on others, this film is for you. I think Krist will have a great future in Christian Films if he can put together an able stable of actors, and continue to write moving stories.
His portrayal of Jesus in the film is by far the best performance.
This film is perfect for people who like faith based, or drama, or inspirational films. It also works for people who enjoy clever dialogue - even if it is delivered a bit deadpan.
