Simple and Sweet Screenplay
firozmaac2 January 2023
Half pants full pants is a great series which quickly reminds me of iconic tv series - Malgudi days. The series is about a small kid - Anand aka Dabba and all his naughty, mischievous stories.

The beauty of this series is a location set in a very small town of Karnataka. Rich in nature! This will certainly remind us of our own childhood. The childhood which apparently lost in the tall towns.

Story line is very simple and close to every 90's kids. End of each episode you will be able to relate your self with dabba.

Acting of each character is so real that some point will be thinking it's a real story and real life character.

This is a must watch series of just 8 episodes. At the end of every episode you will always wish to have more. The casts are really good including Anand. Ashish vidyarthi and Sonali Kulkarni does great justice to their role of Anand's parent.

This series ia all bout innocence! It is so heart warming It took me back to my childhood. What I loved about this was that it's not glamorous, It is so clean, realistic and natural.

The story telling was really good.

It's been a while since something as heartwarming and innocent came on TV in form of a series

Loved the way Master Ashwant and Ashish Vidyarthi sir fit into their roles so naturally, not to forget the rest of the Jr. Cast as well

If you want to watch a series with your child, this definitely is one of them. Thanks to the director VK Prakash on putting forth such a cute, innocent and heart warming series.

Simple Innocent
sur_babu19 December 2022
I believe no show or entertainment is meant for everyone. So something horrible may be the best for someone. This one is a top star for me because I could close my eyes and relate this with my own childhood. Have not seen anything so simple yet beautiful since Malgudi Days or 90's simple Doordarshan series'.

Ashish Vidyarthi and Sonali Kulkarni are a pleasure to watch while the adorable Dabba steals the show.

I seriously hope that there would be another season and would eagerly await the same.

Location = Awesome Characters = you could relate Exaggeration = Nil Suggestion = Watch it if you are grown up in 80's innocent childhood.

Happiness restored
arjunniroo19 December 2022
This is a feel good web series which has been beautifully directed by V. K Prakash. The cinematography is fantastic, and so is the cast. Saw many new faces in some episodes who have all done a brilliant job. Ashwanth's performance was simply outstanding. It brings back old memories and reminded me of 'Malgudi days'. Ashish Vidyarthi's acting was so natural and brilliant, just like a typical Indian father. This series gives out a beautiful message too. It was mixed with both humour and sadness. I finished 4 episodes on the first day and couldn't wait to finish the rest. It has a feel good factor to it and I highly recommend all those who are reading this to watch it!

Rollercoaster ride of Nostalgia
vineethmailbox20 December 2022
I started watching H. P. F. P with the assumption/prejudice that this web series will be a very low budget making and technically it won't meet my expectations. As soon as I saw that I title card visuals of Sakleshpura/Shimoga railway and the first shot (aerial shot) I was convinced that my perception/prejudice was wrong.

This web series that has become an eye catcher to me with beautiful frames and visuals... The writing of Anand & Mani was perfect and VKP correctly captured the emotions of the characters beautifully.

Ganesh 's frames successfully recreates those nostalgic 90's and it helps us to travel back to those eras.

According to me Half Pants Full Pants is a rollercoaster of Nostalgia and Emotions.

Thanks to the team HPFP for giving us a webseries which can be seen for everyone from every age group with the entire family....

Its Really So Amazing
Ganesh-8850824 December 2022
Ashish Vidyarthi Sir is so good and different in this series. He behaves exactly like my father used to.

I went back 30 years to my own growing up years, my childhood friends and our adventures. We also had a detective group.

Brilliant series. Top notch direction and story telling. Little slow compared to regular shows but that's the beauty of this one. Can't wait for more stories like this.

Binge watched with family after a long time. Went back to my own childhood in Jamshedpur. The boy is Super Deluxe boy. He is magical. The stories are simple yet full of surprises and wonder. No unnecessary drama. Very natural. Real. Wish there were more episodes. Didn't want it to end. Now, waiting for Full Pants.

Hats off to VKP for capturing such a brilliant plot . Screenplay needs a special applause too because it didn't portrayed with any laggy feel . Rather it was really engaging even ! Also the kid ( Anand ) who played the lead was simply awestruck . Highly convincing and relatable to anyone's Childhood Golden days . Ashish Vidyarthi always makes you in to the character deeply and emotionally. Cinematography & Edit was at its best captivating mode . I would really love to see more and more adaptations from VKP sir like this . As a wholesome, it's purely a worth watch series .

Highly Recommend 👍👍👍

Warning: Spoilers
Half Pants Full pants is all about the real innocence of Indian civilization, innocent village, innocent people, innocent families, innocent childhood, simplicity, struggles and ups and downs in lives each episode is a portrait of India which now we miss under juggernaut of globalisation, urbanization, consumerism and dehumanisation. There are hundreds of very nostalgic and feel good scenes which make you thoughtful. The entire team worked so hard like the craftsmen who gave us the poetry in stone at Shimoga. One won't understand India and what unites this great country without watching this full series. Worth including in a time capsule to be retrieved after a thousand years. Highly recommended to young generation, students of rural development, art, culture, languages, religion and natural and cultural heritage of India.

Worst story for kid
jdthakar24 December 2022
Besides weak story and complete emotional disconnect.

The concept in the story is to break the "Indian" thought, increase animosity between siblings, and any thing that is non-Indian.

It contains insult of Indian deity. Ashish V. And Sonali K. Are quiet throughout the series.

The kid of pre-internet and mobile era never had courage to runaway from his house.

The school felicitates a kid just on receipt of PM letter. What idea is being communicated by this?

The ending is very very toxic which sows the seeds of poison between the siblings.

It is a shameful series with a storyline containing nothing but poison.

Perfect Direction
santoshborade11 January 2023
The movies will take you to your childhood memories , story and direction makes you feel about the school days and friendships.

The half pant name is perfect title along with the perfect mindset of the people around the family , school and child hood friends.

I loved the way the location and family struggles shown of the middle class family, where you want your child to be in the English medium school.

The one indeed friend who is always with you during your good and bed times shown with the perfect example where friend is comfortable with the doing anything and moving around with him with the support.

Taking you back in time
balachandranjayakumar5 January 2023
Half Pants Full Pants brings back memories of our childhood. It is really good to see the old ten paisa coin which is an antique item now. Refreshing to see an era free from electronic gadgets where family members talk to each other face to face rather than through mobile phone messages. Everyone has done their part well with the boy Anand standing out. Difference between convent school and railway school, getting carried away with the exploits of Bruce Lee, trying to somehow convince the parents to get things done, getting interested in different things and switching from one to other in a matter of days, all part of growing up are captured well.

Worth every 'Paisa'
ideadhead27 December 2022
A very unique perspective and narrative to bring back nostalgia in this new series - HPFP. There should be no comparison made to Malgudi Days at any cost as the genre, background and era of both are very different. I suggest everyone read the book and then everything in this series makes sense. There has been an excellent effort by the Director VK Prakash to recreate the eighties and the characters Dabba, Giddi are all portrayed to their real best. Railway stories in India are so few that this series completes that vaccum. It's a reminder that it's a world which was real and there were no mobile phones to ruin the fun of innocent childhood.

This is one of the best web series in recent times
justinyesudas-6375728 January 2023
Fantastic content . Great Direction & precise cinematography & screenplay , Kudos to the entire team , we need more of such sensible content in this country . The sensitivity of the growing up kid & his chemistry with father & mother is captured so well . The kid changing his ambition on and off & father's reaction , so naturally showing the essence of a natural process of life is commendable . Ashish Vidhyarti has portrayed so much of maturity in his performance . The most refreshing part is the locations it's shot in. VK Prakash's (Director )calibre of creating an air of light heartedness for the audience is commendable .

A Well-Made Lighthearted Watch
surajsuresh-4444929 December 2022
A simple innocent story of a young boy and his ideas/experiences in his small railway town.

Beautifully made and truly entertaining. The series has been shot really well and all of the actors have done an awesome job, especially the little boy! The show portrays innocence and all of the random things children come up with when they're young and free. The setting and the themes present are sure to bring back nostalgic moments from everyone's own youth.

It is rare to find a simple, lighthearted, easy series in today's sea of fast paced drama-oriented platforms. A really nice light-hearted series that I truly enjoyed!

Back to the future
rajbaliga27 December 2022
If you are born in 70's this is a series that will take you on a nostalgic journey. Inspiration to do something different, trying to have a role model, exploring new thoughts, curiosity and a never ending quest for achieving uniquely- all these facets are so well captured in this series. The catapult, exchanging marbles, bets and eating challenges, pen pals, dare in burial ground are so relatable

Kudos to Anand, Prakash and the entire crew for bringing this novel to life.

Ashish Vidyarthi is a perfectionist and a fantastic performance by Sonali Kulkarni as Anand's mother. Ashwanth as Anand (Dabba) is a child super hero and I'm sure will achieve greater heights.

Once again a must watch.

Nostalgia
suveen-283804 January 2023
Have you ever witnessed something like your childhood story unfurling in front of your eyes ? Has any film evoked a sense of been here, seen there. Half Pant Full Pant created by VK Prakash which is an adaptation of Anand Suspi's book with the same title tugs at your heartstrings while navigating the days of innocence, adventures and giving wings to ur dreams.

Unfolding like the intimate memoirs of childhood,it keenly observes the ramblings of a young boy from the railway colony of a village named Donigal, Anand Subbarao(master Aswanth Ashok Kumar) who is cheekily named Dabba, by his chaddi-buddy, Giddy.

Dabba, hailing from a very humble middle-class Brahmin family is a slacker, he dilly dallies with Giddy all day, much to the agony of his honest and grounded father( played by Ashish Vidyarthi) who works as a railway guard. His mother( Sonali Kulkarni) however is lenient towards him and belives that one day, he will realize his responsibilities.

Packaged as an eight-episode series, it is an vivid autobiographical account of Suspi who grew up in the small town of Simoga, meticulously re-imagined by Prakash to evoke nostalgia with its immaculate milieu and ethos.

Akin to RK Narayan's Malgudi Days, Half Pants Full Pants follows Dabba's adventures - his crazy aspirations to become a magnet king by turning coins into magnets, to regale as a Karate Champ or his tryst with the orchestra. The innocence brims with each episode and you are slowly immersed in his world.

And so does his silliness, mischief and harmless notoriety, nicely articulated and astutely performed by master Aswath Kumar. He embodies Dabba with an unmistakable charm and characteristic non-conformity to any sagely advices from his parents and elders on thrift, modesty and simplicity.

The show boasts of some pristine captures of Donigal's verdant landscapes and hills by cinematographer Ganesh and a seamless transition of one episode to another, thanks to Suresh Urs's editing.

A very calibrated performance by both Ashish Vidyarthi and Sonali Kulkarni make the show worth watching. It is a must watch for the people who grew up as kids during the 80s for the sheer flush of the vignettes of the best part of your life- Childhood.

I go with 10 stars. Streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Beautiful story telling
dharmesh-2278526 December 2022
Simple characters. Simple stories and effortless narrative. The setting of late 80s/90s perfectly created. The lifestyle of small town karnataka depicted in details. This show reminded me of Malgudi Days. Getting performances from kids is always difficult but it seems like it has been handled well. The best this about the episodes is that there is a balance of all ingredients. Not one thing is excessive or less. It is not easy to say the music is great or the dialogue is overpowering or screenplay is the hero or acting is the best. All elements including cinematography, location, art design etc is all very balanced.

I could smell ambience of the location
mohamedtakram22 December 2022
It was a time travel for me and my wife. The houses, locations, characters, music, acting, direction are served as hot cup of tea of that era.

I could able to relate to every friend of mine, neighbors, streets, houses and school of my child hood.

In some of the scenes I could able to see myself in master dabba, thank you for this master piece and experiential cinema.

Ashish sir is at his best, Dabba has stolen our hearts, minds and souls too . . .

The best episode is Dabba Lee, each screenplay of that scene was real for me. I could able to see myself around Dabba Lee in that entire episode.

Thanks ton guys, this real cinema on silver screen.

CHILDHOOD DREAMS
gayatrigauri-GGstudio19 December 2022
The world of OTT content has become such a high octane experience, each new content a wannabe 'edgy' or "something different' vying for our attention.

Then comes along a simple tale of the ordinary. Like trains and pocket money, the value of 10 paisa coins, letters and pen pals, the Secret Seven books, annoying siblings, and the amusing influence of Bruce Lee (we are talking of real influencers who didn't need reels). "Half Pants, Full Pants" based on an autobiographical novel, can be broadly viewed as just nostalgia. But it needs to be seen for the joy of simplicity missing in the lives of the children today and the inherent and really enriching values of the ordinary, middle class parents, in the early 70s.

Watch this really simple and charming tale of growing up set in the world of remote railway stations. A child who is a dreamer ; a father who is an ordinary man--the result is V. K. Prakash's endearingly directed "Half Pants,Full Pants" on Amazon Prime.

Throwback to good times!

Simple and poignant breeze of a watch. Throwback to good old days of Television. Gave me nostalgic vibes of Childhood. The show brings back memories of Malgudi days with its simplicity and honesty.

Masterful direction and execution combined with flawless storytelling. Amazing casting and simple yet resonating performances by everyone especially the kids. Glad to see Ashish Vidhyarthi getting a meaty role well.

Great to see such heartfelt content on Amazon Prime.

Hoping to see more of the same kind of shows and movies henceforth. In a world full of stress and rush, these kind of shows are a breathe of fresh air.

INNOCENT AND REALISTIC !
sweetshyna25 December 2022
Loved watching this series. It gives a nostalgic feeling of Malgudi Days- that cant be expressed through words. A very simple yet beautiful approach must say.

Ashish Vidyarthi and Sonali Kulkarni as usual did full justice to their characters. They are a pleasure to watch everytime when they come on screen. Such fine actors they are. The kids were so good. They were so at ease performing their parts. Looked so natural that we could totally relate to. Also must say, the location was a visual treat to the eyes. It took us back in time .

I hope to see yet another season of this. Waiting eagerly.

A delightful series
zserviceline-2775824 December 2022
A delightful series about nostalgia and the simplicity of small town India in the 80s. Before technology.

Very refreshing and different from most web series. The languid pace of the series makes it even more flavourful. Superb direction, performances and locales. A must watch.

I Just Finished 8 episodes of childhood, love and nostalgia... Good congratulations congratulations. It's inspiring, beautiful and we'll made. And I loved the slow pace because speed kills.

No unnecessary drama. Very natural. Real. Wish there were more episodes. Didn't want it to end. Now, waiting for Full Pants. Loved it.
