Good chemistry, fun watch, Reality? Who cares
SnoopyStyle29 September 2013
Mike Baird and Doug Clark are Utah based contractors that buy foreclosed properties, rehab, and resell them. It's yet another 'Reality' property show. What makes this different?

They are so numerous nowadays that it's getting hard to differentiate all these show. The good thing is that these properties are an unknown quality. The problems they face can be different every week. It's fun to see the chaos they get into. But it's really the two leads that make the show. The bickering twins get really go at it but they are always friends. There isn't too much unnecessary melodrama.

How real is it? That is of course unknowable by the viewer. I'm guessing there's a lot of fakery going on. But any 'Reality-TV' viewer should know this already. Reality is fake. Just enjoy it.

Great show

I really like this show. It's unlike any show iv seen at least. The two main cast members are decent enough. The whole premise of the show is these two guys buy foreclosed houses and fix them up and flip them. Some houses have fire damage, flood damage, bee infestation and lots more. It's interesting enough for me, I'm not a huge construction/renovation fan but I still do like it. I was pretty surprised to see the rating was a 2 on IMDb since its much better than that. It's well worth a watch. I hope spike doesn't cancel this show and people give it a chance and watch it. I have no idea what else to say but I have to have 10 lines in a review.

Interesting... but there's evidence of manipulation
Wizard-823 July 2012
Before this show aired, if you were to have asked me if a show with the premise of people buying a home and fixing it up appealed to me, most likely I would have said, "NO!" But one slow day while I was flipping though channels and not finding anything more appealing, I gave this show a try. To my surprise, I was genuinely interested with what I saw. The show revealed interesting facts such as building codes and what people who make a living fixing up houses sometimes have to face.

This is an interesting show. But there's something about it that prevents me from completely enjoying it. There are some moments that seem to be manipulated by the people behind the camera, and some moments that seem suspiciously faked. For example, there was one show when the people had trouble with a clogged floor drain in a small basement room. A plumber was brought in, and while he dealt with the drain I couldn't help but notice the entire scene was edited from multiple camera angles - and I don't think that room could have squeezed in multiple camera men. So if you watch the show, be sure to observe and think about everything you see.

Flip Men

Finally a reality show that is real. We actually get to see how Doug and Mike locate and purchase a property, the hilarious break-in, and the amazing reveal at the end. In the last episode I watched they actually stated that they lost money on a house, I have never seen another show document the Truth like that. So many people I have talked to about this show agree that there is more being taught here than any other real estate show, not to mention the Flip Men are hilarious. I highly recommend sitting down and watching a Flip Men marathon with the family and friends. I had never watched Spike prior, but after seeing season 1 I can't go to sleep without wondering if I could make it in there crazy business. This is a must see and I can't wait for season 2!
