The One With The Blind Girl...
taylorkingston26 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. It's funny and it gives Brian a kick-in-the-crotch, which I love to see. But I don't mean literally.

In this episode, Brian meets a girl and they hit it off, so he asks her out. After she says, when she goes to leave, he discovers that she's actually blind. Brian doesn't mind, which I like. But then he finds out that she hates dogs, and she doesn't know he is a dog. So he tries to make her really like him before he tells her. It doesn't end well. Meanwhile, Peter gets a new staircase in the house because the old one was falling to pieces and constantly gave splinters. But the problem is the staircase is way too slippery and no one can escape falling down them.

Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Awesome.

Very Funny episode

Warning: Spoilers
Let's get this out of the way. The Peter storyline is the best part. It may not be as funny rewatching it but the first time watching it is the funniest thing ever. The other storyline is still pretty good but it's just your average Brian love story. My favorite cutaway gag was probably the titanic one. Also I found it dumb because Stewie got one splinter for the stair and then boom they got news stairs. There was so many other ways they could have handled it. And of course Brian couldn't have just been himself and had to lie to the blind girl. And a big hole in the plot was How did Brian trick the blind girl into thinking they're in France? Like how did he handle getting to france, likening going into the airport and back. But it's just a dumb cartoon and it was a good episode.

Have the old writers come back from a long holiday?

Family guy hasn't been itself lately. It felt like the show got seriously less funny for the past 2 seasons, although it remained funny enough to watch. But only just. Up until season 8, every season had many outrageously funny episodes, well written and many laugh-out-loud moments, a good amount of 'normal' good episodes and only some dips - overall quality was great. Seasons 8, 9 and 10 felt increasingly like the writers went on vacation, one at a time, or moved to American Dad, a show that started to really outshine it's big brother, Family Guy. Even the Cleveland Show showed a big upward curve with every episode being better than the last.

Now, with this episode about Brian dating a blind girl, they are 100% back. This episode is very well written, many laugh-out-loud moments and just gave me the feeling everything will be alright with Family Guy after all.

Seth, don't let this little gem get lost in another pool of b-side episodes and Family Guy will have it's former glory back, and more.

Wait... Adam West is a cast member, and they did a Batman cut-away using a different voice actor?

Would've given 9 or10 stars if they hadn't done the Batman cut-away with a different voice actor when the original Batman, Adam West, is already a cast member. They should've used West for the Batman voice, even if it had to include some kind of comment to point out the similarity to the mayor's voice. Not using West is at least a 2 star penalty.

well i ended up being very wrong...

When I had first heard of (the plot to) this episode (The Blind Side), I genuinely believed this was an episode that came out BEFORE season 9! No joke, I watched through all of seasons 1-8 and didn't see this episode, so when I did the research after, turns out I was wrong and it was an episode that came out AFTER season 9! Well that was pretty stupid of me...
