Embarrassing
Swift0715 October 2023
I can tell you that I loved the first few episodes. It started off so intriguing, I was curious to watch more.. it was a solid start. I was telling people to watch it. By the midpoint, things took a turn, and the last 2-3 episodes.. pathetic really. Episode 7 was not the time to completely go off track and ruin any such momentum (the little it had). If I knew by the end that this would be a complete waste of time I wouldn't have started and I certainly would not be recommending it to others. No answers, no such closure.

The acting for the most part was great, but great acting doesn't make a show when everything around them is falling to pieces, such a shame. The cliff at the end was ironic because this show literally fell off it.

Trash!!!

Warning: Spoilers
What the hell was that?! It's a 400pg book. They've already told about 350pgs of it. They made up the last 2 episodes, so what the hell are they going to do for season 2, Game of thrones it? This was just an extension of episode 5. 15min season finale episode Apple?

That was shorter than a Saturday morning cartoon.

Let's talk about the idiotic execution. 65yr old lady who barely made it down the rope now climbs up to meet the monster, IN THE RAIN? She then proceeds to fist fights the crazy guy 20yrs her Junior who she managed to shoot from the beach below? Guns don't work that way. Who wrote this garbage? Then instead of fighting the monster she jumps off the cliff because she's tired and wants to see her kid again. Lmao. The fk?

The show started off strong but the writers had no idea what to do with it.

Do not waste your brain cells on this trash show.

Worst landing of a TV show, EVER!
iceeis15 October 2023
If there is a season 2, I certainly won't watch it. I've never seen a series fall apart so badly after this one.

It feels like every episode was written by a different person, who wasn't allowed to see what the other was writing. This "finale" didn't answer any questions and threw a whole bunch of new stuff that wasn't really set up in previous episodes. A dragon? What? A devil character? Huh?

Meanwhile, nothing about the demon/missing babies, what happened, the third wish, etc. And all this following an episode that had literally nothing to do with the plot of the entire series.

This was simply awful writing and everyone involved should be blacklisted from further episodic television.

Appaling. A lesson in how to crash land a series

Warning: Spoilers
The series started well, I'd go as far as to say that the series started better than the books but sadly that trend wasn't sustained through the whole series. After the diverting but passably interesting episode six, we got the dull and overblown episode seven, by that time I was worried that the series was either going to end on a very confusing note which rushed the ending OR worse that it wasn't going to end at all.

Bad news is we got both.

The titular battle of the island is more of a dash for the coast followed by a heroic one woman holding action. While I can forgive the unlikely recovery from a fall to climb a cliff and smite the bad guy as part of the mythic quality of the story, what is less forgivable is the confused montage which follows.. Instead of anything remotely like a conclusion we get a ten minute teaser trailer for season 2 constructed from out of context scenes and lacking any narrative whatsoever..

I doubt there will be a season 2. If there is I doubt that I will watch it..

Warning: Spoilers
Listen, I am not opposed to shows that go off track or have different story telling and I for one love episode 7, but what the hell was this finale? Why was this episode so short? I was so confused, and also the shortness made it feel like random bits of a real episode got chopped up and thrown together. I really want to see a season 2 bc I love the characters and think the idea of the show is super intriguing, but please don't do something so weird as here in this finale. There was no build up, no revelations in regards to the things that constantly got referenced (3rd wish), the repetition of the (cool & creepy) poem was at this point, imo, absolutely overdone. Strange fever dream of a finale. Also what was the use of Apollo not getting on the first boat, when Cal just immediately sends him to get on this smaller boat? That made no sense. All in all, a complete mess.
