Much as the title of the movie suggests, the film makers take the audience on a wonderful journey through the past, present, future of Preservation Hall. They showcase the family atmosphere that exists between the performers, as well as the important legacy that they carry. The musical performances are surreal and make you feel as though you are there with them in the audience. The collaboration with My Morning Jacket helps to bridge the gap between the traditional jazz of the past with the rock of the present and future. The interviews with the band members makes it a very heartfelt narrative. Each musician has their own story and history that brought them to Preservation Hall, but they have a unifying common thread that they all love the music that they are making and have a genuine desire to continue the legacy that has been passed on to them.
