Hi all I saw this last night and was completely gripped by it. The subject doesn't really fit well with Comedy. Comedy and Cancer are not too immediately intuitive partners. However, with a good review at the Odeon Website, I gave it a go and found it utterly compelling. One sees the impact of the Cancer diagnosis to friends and family - and the upsides as well as downsides.
The comedic moments are indeed extremely funny. There is a sharpness to this film, which makes it unique for the many films I have seen this year - a piercing sense of reality throughout, and believability's not often seen Cinematically.
The therapy sessions have some predictability created for some unexpected upsides to the course of the film. I did personally find the therapist slightly adorable and sweet, and in fact all the supporting cast did really well.
Finding out one's true friends also seems to be a major implication and upside shown up by the film, as well as some other discoveries about what was and wasn't important.
Well worth watching!
