The dark Malte

Warning: Spoilers
Saw this film at the short film corner in Cannes. The film is very dark in the way it looks and very dark in what it communicates. The credits (which are not, and should have been translated) mention Hamlet, but you have to have really studied Shakespeare to be able to pick out the references, although I loved the way the ghost was (or was not? The question is open!) brought in by radio announcements heard by the protagonist as he walks in a rainy street. The girl who looks like she would be Ophelia - more should have been done with her, but it is moving to see the protagonist returning to her in the end, which is only suggested by what you see on screen. The film looks very beautiful however. And the music haunting. Also like how you can never tell whether there is a ghost and what really happens at the end. Very delicate black and white with a particular shade of green! My first film from Malta and very happy to have seen it!
