Facing the Music

There are several things that are in flux here. First of all is the marriage of the two long time lonely people. And, of course, the realization, that he has a devastating secret. We have Oscar, putting every cent the family has, on a railroad venture. Should prove interesting. Most dramatically, George Russell is ready to face off against the workers who threaten strike. These are the days where the militia could be called in and the strikers fired on. The results are interesting when one considers who George is. We also have Mrs. Russell continuing her one-upsmanship when it comes to the Metropolitan Opera's first season.

Warning: Spoilers
Not enough Bertha! The episode moves along very well, with one or two surprises. I have come to adore the cast and eagerly wait for all future episodes. The costumes and detailing are sumptuous, the writing on a scope that one can only marvel at. It's my go to TV series, satisfying all of my cravings for drama, intrigue and wit. I am watching it all over again from the start, recovering from surgery and allowing myself to be transported to New York in 1880's. Every time I enter their world, there is another raft of details to excite and delight me. For instance, from watching The Gilded Age, I have done some of my own research, and am now aware of certain facts that I knew nothing about before.

Not the best

Love this show. But like quite a few episodes throguhout, there is some bad writing and cringe acting from some of the extras, especially at the mill, in this particular episode

Main cast are consistant and storyline flows nicely enough. Costume and set design still have the highest quality and generally pretty much on point to the time. Christine Baranski and. Cynthia Nixon are enigmatic on the small screen and very enjoyable to watch.

I find the intertwining of historical people at the time, very well done and mostly thought out well. Although some suspending of belief is required throughout.
