Saw on the DVD's menu page this episode has commentary as well, so expected it to be their star effort. Well, perhaps it is, it might well be, oh come on, it's good, but there is still nothing really standout. Kate (Sarah Shahi) is a very likable character, and while she's on the screen, I'm not complaining.
Story kicks off with one of the best scenes in the series so far. Kate thinks it's a romantic dinner, but Justin (Michael Trucco) just wants to finalize divorce proceedings. Her high hopes come crashing down and she storms out of the restaurant. The scene is rated highly by some high-up female executive at the network, hell, I'm not gonna go listen to the commentary again, but it is mentioned there, she thought it was more emotional than anything else she'd seen back then, not just for this series, she meant ALL. I can see why, Sarah knocked it out of the park, great!
As for the theme, the illegal immigrants' daughter distinguishing herself in the US military, and yet not eligible for a green card, facing deportation to Honduras, another good performance.
All in all though the script NO! the plot line fails to lift the show to the higher strata Sarah Shahi's compassionate Kate richly deserves.
As I always say, recommended to gentle viewers.
