Interesting spin on the "found footage" genre...
Htom_Sirveaux31 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Following the craze revived by "The Blair Witch Project" (it had been done before with movies like "Cannibal Holocaust" and "The Last Broadcast"), "Apollo 18" presents itself as footage of NASA's "last" voyage to the moon in the 1970s, showing us the "real" reason why we never went back. Through said footage, we follow the exploits of three American astronauts - two on the lunar surface and one in orbit above the moon - as they discover that the moon is hiding a terribly dark secret. Apparently, there's something already there which has nothing to do with either the Americans or the Russians, and it doesn't want us there... or maybe it does, but for unpleasant reasons. This is not a spoiler, by the way; the trailer reveals as much.

The pros of this movie include, first and foremost, that it's a rather unique idea for a story. Ever since man has first walked on the moon, there really has been no speculation of whether or not the moon supported life (and no, I still believe it doesn't), and ever since Apollo 17, there has been speculation on why we never returned (though it likely has more to do with time, money, and risk than anything else). Another pro is the film's realistic look; the lunar landscape appears realistic, and the special effects are convincing as well. As for the scares, they're plentiful without being overly so.

"Apollo 18" is not without its flaws, though. One thing that had me scratching my head is the high amount of gravity which was shown inside the lunar landing vessel. Contrary to popular belief, there IS gravity on the moon as well as between any two forms of mass, though it's not nearly as strong as what we would find on Earth. You can see the astronauts jumping at large distances while walking on the lunar surface, but not inside the lander. Secondly, I kind of wish they had developed the lunarian creatures a little more. The filmmakers use creative camera work to keep several things hidden, which does help add to the suspense, but I still think it would have helped things more to show the lunarians a little more. In spite of these flaws, the film kept my interest.

I see a lot of people hating this movie. While they have every right to, I'm kind of lost as to a reason why. No, "Apollo 18" isn't a great film, but it's not terrible, either. Just take it for what it is.

here's what you need to know
wolfhorse31 December 2011
Okay here is what u need to know about this movie. Not worth paying for at the movies. If I had to sit in a theater for this I'd be mad but at home OK. BUT worth it for Pay per view or to rent. If you liked Blair witch and like science fiction, you will like, not love, this. If you're older and hate Blair witch, the nostalgia of the moon landings will carry you thru. pretty good movie tho not great.

my goal is to give reviews that let u know what your in for, not nitpick and discuss film techniques, directors, or show my "expertise" in film making. just tell ya if it's a stinker or not.

and to make my minimum ten lines it's good not great. time killer but worth watching.

much better then thought it was going be
atinder2 October 2012
Seen this now, i don't know why, I have been avoiding this one over the year. I was expecting it to be really dull and boring movie..

It was not as boring as I thought it was going to be, well start of slow like all the other found footage movies then gets going before the half hour mark.

I found really enjoyable for most of part of the movie, there was decent amount of Jumps scene in this movie. some jumps scene worked and some missed the mark a little.

The acting was really good from small cast crew, the ending was really predicable.

As I had low expectation of this movie, I found it much better then thought it was going be, not one of best Found footage movies, Decent movie for this genre 5 out of 10

Faux space documentary better than predicted
richard-s-bellamy20 September 2011
Framed as leaked "found footage" from the era of space exploration in the 1970s, Apollo 18 is an attempt to out conspiracy the already rife conspiracy theories concerning the lunar landings. The trouble with framing something as being documentary style footage is you have to get the science right and be free from any loopholes that might break the audience out of the illusion. Apollo 18 falls short on this count. López-Gallego manages to recreate to a certain extent the lunar missions. Portrayed through the various cameras feeding live footage back to Earth we have a Big Brother style look into the doomed from the start space mission. The two man crew of the lunar lander also film themselves on 16mm cameras. Herein lies some of the flaws in the director's logic. We need to get into the character's perspective to relate. This is solely done through these 16mm cameras. They film themselves on the moon's surface as well as personal records in the module. The rest is all caught on remote cameras, the audience being allowed to see the threat before the crew do, privy to the danger the Department of Defence has exposed them to. The live footage makes sense to have been documented; however the 16mm film rolls do not make it out, they share the crews dire fate. How then are we seeing the actions of the crew amidst this found footage? It makes no sense pulling any reasonably astute watcher beyond the line of suspension of disbelief.

It seems clear López-Gallego wants us to care about the cast. We need to care for the conspiracy theory to resonate. The story very directly harks into the era of Watergate where the powers that be cannot be trusted. But his illusion of found footage does not stand up at all well. Does the story really fail on this account? No. It's actually fairly entertaining as it goes. The tension builds; the threat is revealed and played out. However the conspiracy theme and the documentary framing lend the film no real benefit and do not pay off. While there is reams of data on the films website to build the conspiracy it is not present enough on screen to sideline the notion we are victim to a none to subtle slight of hand.

What the film did do with the early footage was remind me why, as a child, I was so fascinated with space. It shows with sufficient realism what the actual Apollo astronauts did and how we as a planet reached for the stars. This is not history as it tries to suggest, but it is a reminder, to me at least, of how sad it is that we no longer pursue such epic destinations as the moon or beyond.

OK but not great
grantss27 July 2020
OK but not great. The overall concept isn't that original - sort of The Blair Witch Project on the Moon. The plot itself is original, but relatively predictable.

While the direction gives the movie a realistic feel, it can be a bit irritating at times. The jagged, broken photography is jarring on occasion.

Performances are OK.

I enjoyed it
news-1216 September 2011
I was nearly put off seeing it by some of the reviews here.

SO I thought twice about seeing it, however I like sci-fi so had to watch.

The plot is well covered in other reviews.

Yes the style is different but it is in keeping with the moon landing and pictures taken at the time. Its all filmed as though done through the hand-held moon cameras.

Some reviews said actors were wooden but that is the whole point, they are supposed to be normal people (well as normal as any astronauts ) can be.

The test for me is :-

Would I watch it again, yes

In space, no one can hear you yawn....
MartianTom4 September 2011
...and I hope the people next to me in the cinema couldn't hear me yawning, which I started doing after about half-way.

These 'found footage' movies have varied over the years, since The Blair Witch Project kicked it all off. I had mixed feelings about that, but overall I felt it was an effective chiller: what's NOT seen is often so much scarier. Cloverfield, for me, remains at the top of the list, while the PA films are way down.

Apollo 18 isn't far from the bottom, either. The premise was intriguing, and I genuinely expected some sort of development in the genre - something like a cross between Blair Witch and Alien. What I got was 90 minutes of predictability and disappointment. The sense of isolation and claustrophobia was well done, but little else. I felt some sense of a tension build-up for perhaps a half-hour - but then it dissipated once the nature of the 'horror' became apparent.

I came away feeling that here was a great opportunity missed. It's worth seeing for the technical excellence and attention to detail. Just don't expect to see anything new - or anything that'll frighten the pants off you.

Really enjoyed this
nej-26 September 2011
I'd been looking forward to this film for months after seeing a poster for it. The concept of a secret 18th mission to the moon drew me in instantly. After hearing a few mutterings from critics though, I was a little worried it might not be quite the film I wanted it to be. However, after seeing it tonight I'm happy to report that it's just what I expected :)

I'm a fan of The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity and this film fits into that genre.

The special effects are brilliant. At no point did I believe they weren't on the moon. Which is daft, but honestly, they were great. The feeling of impending doom and isolation was quite palpable and I tell you this, I can't remember jumping back in my seat so much in ANY film before at certain bits!

All in all a good solid film.

Wop wop waaaaah.
sierradittrich6 September 2011
My husband I looked forward to this movie for a long time. The day we went to go see it, curiosity got the better of me and I looked up some reviews, about 75-80% of which were bad, so I warned him and we went in with some low expectations. I think it is because we had pre-adjusted the expectations that we weren't more disappointed. We did leave the theater feeling unsatisfied and just really underwhelmed.

Our main issue with the movie was that astronauts are chosen for their intelligence (obviously) as well as their ability to hand extremely stressful situations, and the characters in this film failed at both of those things. They were faced with several serious choices throughout the film, and we both felt like the choices they made were so poor that even WE would have done better. Add onto this major suspension of disbelief issue a lot of boring 'what the hell is going on' footage and very few actually suspenseful moments, and top it off with a really badly cg'd sequence at the end of the film that just flat out wasn't necessary, and you've got this movie.

The acting wasn't bad, and the sets were fine, just the plot had trouble getting off the ground, kind of flopped around like a dying fish, then finally died. Even during the tense parts I did find my mind wandering in the direction of 'what time is it? How much longer?'

Absurd but visually entertaining
Yiannis_Galidakis30 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The best of the worst for Moon landing conspiracy fans. Many nonsense theories, but none has such support as with this film. Apart from that, quite enjoyable, with good claustrophobic views of the found footage genre and quite accurate imitations/simulations of the moonscape. -1 for ridiculous crab-like life forms found on a scape that doesn't support life. -1 for flashing recorded images which make the scenes tiring to watch. -1 for Russian moonlander. There weren't any. Otherwise, quite visually satisfying horror, given the constraints of the moonscape.

Don't believe the hype
rupej-12 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The previews made 'Apollo 18' seem as if it had some real promise. Secret mission to the moon, massive government cover-up, something unknown lurking on our nearest neighbor. A group of friend and I thought this would be a sure-fire good time before we set out on a Friday night.

Don't believe the hype...This movie turned out to a bad 80 minute mix of 'John Carpenter's: The Thing' (gets better with age) and 'Blair Witch Project' (not so much) set on the Moon. There were only four of us in the theater and we couldn't wait to leave, and the reason we lasted the length of the movie was to see if there was some deus ex machina that would save the film at the end...

But there wasn't...Worst movie I've seen in a theater!

If you want to bore yourself for 80 minutes, watch some grass grow and save yourself $10.

Conspiracy Fun
soybean-reed26 August 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of my favorite movies. Not for the action scenes or the story, but for the Conspiracy aspect. I love watching movies where the government screws over the main character. I'm not going to have the same opinion on this as everybody else but this movie is a gold mine for conspiracy. Why we went to the moon in the first place isn't clear at all, and this movie puts a sci-fi twist to the events on the moon. "There's a reason why we never went back" That is a awesome idea. If you are a fan of movies that get you thinking about real life events this is the perfect one for you. I can't get enough of the idea that we didn't go back because of E.T beings. Now I don't plan on getting into the idea of E.T. but who says we have to be the only beings in the universe? It's a big place, and the moon is the perfect setting. I also love the idea that when we brought back some of the alien rocks we gave them to foreign dignitaries, and that they were "stolen or lost"

Loony tunes
gpeltz5 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Apollo 18 (2011) Directed by Gonzalo Lopez Gallego, and written by Brian Miller, Is a clever concept, A mocumentary about the last unreported Lunar landing. Spoiler Alert ahead, I Intend to talk about the film, What I liked; It very much captured the technology of the period, the film ratio was pure period nostalgia. Did we detect Super 8 on some of the home movies? Nice attention to detail. All the footage at the start mimicked the images we recall, they were uncannily set up in the studio, so as to intimate that the original footage we recall, might have thus been staged as well, but I digress.

No, there is a far more sinister plot about, The movie goes to great length to introduce us to the three Astronauts chosen for this top secret mission, Warren Christie, Lloyd Owen and Ryan Robbins play Ben, Nate and John. Good old, all American Team players. Ben and Nate would land on the Moon, and John would orbit in the return module. By the time we get to the first, "Wawazat?" The movie was already in decline.

OK, there was some degree of originality in the nature of the threat. Here's that spoiler alert, Keyword; Moonrocks. A mineral, slash Biological organism that wants the moon for its own. For an alien race, it seemed to understand human biology, enough to invade and infect a person, Ben is infected, Nate won't abandon him. It's all a DOD cover up. And now we know why we don;t go to the Moon anymore.Worse yet, there may be many of these phony Rock impersonators running amok down here on Mother Earth.

Downside of this movie; Standard Sci fi cliché's take one; Electronic surveillance cameras will go all static rather then reveal the monsters appearance.

In truth, the monster here never fully reveals itself nor it's motive; Sometimes its just a pointy rock, other times it seems like a biological parasite, and to top off the confusion, It leaves rather odd looking footprints. So how does this film rate, Fair to average, a clever idea pushed further than they knew what to do with. Seven out of Ten "Moonrock" stones, I mean Stars.

Waste of time
films187626 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I had very high hopes for this film after seeing the trailer. However nothing could prepare me for the mind numbing boredom of what I was to endure. The "Found footage" aspect became rapidly became ridiculous after the first ten minutes when shots were edited seamlessly together from all the different cameras that were supposedly used. Apart from that obvious flaw the main thing that bothered me was that the film just was not scary. Over an hour into the film and nothing happens apart from some odd bangs and unexplained movements. The final 30 minutes seemed like an almost separate film as it felt tacked on to the end once they'd ran out of ideas. And the big finish they came up with?Crabs. Ooh terrifying space crabs!!! Scary stuff indeed. All the astronauts needed was some melted butter and a bit of lemon and problem solved. utter rubbish.

Claustrophobic horror
PhilipGHarris3 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
You're always concerned when there are a lack of reviews prior to a release and many may see this as a reason to avoid this film, however there is a lot to appreciate in this taught and claustrophobic horror.

The film uses many of the techniques cemented by Blair Witch so expect hand-cam action and, given its background, the footage is also filmed much like the moon landing footage. The reasons behind this are obvious as it allows the development team to avoid expensive special effects due to the quality of the footage.

Acting is also good. Given most main scenes are set in tight spaces the actors have to get the most out of their environments. They do this well, building on the feeling of being trapped by not one but two main enemies. In fact it is this doubt and then dawning realisation that they are simply pawns in a much bigger game which comes across best, and the growing understanding that they aren't going to be coming home.

Taking time to explain the reasons behind the mission, a reasonable launch date (to avoid prying eyes) and having obviously paid attention to footage from the other Apollo missions the plot moves well. There's enough going on at all times to keep you engaged.

In the end this is never going to be everyone's film. It's going to be compared to Blair Witch and will be disliked by those expecting a sci-fi effects fest. It isn't these things. It's just a well made horror/thriller that doesn't outlast its welcome.

Worst movie I've seen in a long time...
charlespaterson122 October 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Apollo 18 showed promise of a new age of found footage type film. Like the Paranormal Activity series which captured paranormal events on a video camera, Apollo 18 offered us a look at ''why we've never gone back to the moon.'' If the reasons are bad acting and literally no sign of a story line then I can see why.

This movie's plot - or lack of - show three generic American stereotypes who literally end up in Space, with generic American one and two going on the moon while three orbits around. After a slow build up things look as if they will pick up.

To be blunt they don't.

Footage of rocks moving in the background and footprints which are never explained this movie offers very little of anything to appease any sort of fan. It is like someone just put bits of unwanted bits of other films together and threw it in because this film has no basic plot at all.

Dire from the start.

Above Par Found Footage Horror
kerithion4 September 2011
Reading the negative reviews for this film, it seems to me that the majority of reviewers who thought this was a poor movie didn't actually follow the plot very closely. There are no major flaws in the story that I could detect, and while the movie does require attention on the part of the viewer to follow what's unfolding, it's hardly rocket science.

The cinematography was fantastic, evoking a real sense of a moon mission, and as such, this is one of the few "found-footage" films (along with "REC") that provides the principles with a believable reason to document what occurs out-with the questionable "I-must-film-this-for-posterity" nonsense served up by the likes of "Cloverfield".

The small cast do a sterling job, and I don't quite follow how some other reviewers found the characters "unlikeable". The performances in the film evoked my interest. I found myself sympathising with their plight from the outset, and my involvement increased as the film continued. Much of this came from the terse script which was pleasantly free from filler and the baggage of back-story.

I thought the pacing of "Apollo 18" was excellent, creating an edge-of-the-seat uneasy tension building to absolute horror. I think fans of "Paranormal Activity" will enjoy this film. Those who didn't enjoy "Paranormal Activity" will most likely not like "Apollo 18". In the end, I guess it all depends on what scares you. "Apollo 18" scared me. That makes it a successful horror movie in my opinion. But horror, like so much else, is a relative concept.

I have friends who didn't enjoy "Paranormal Activity", and I can understand why: it simply didn't poke them in their scary-bone. Me, I ended up sleeping with the light on after watching it. "Apollo 18" is one of those films - if it's going to scare you, it'll really scare you; but if gradually-rising terror isn't your thing, it'll probably disappoint.

Despite being a low budget production, there's nothing amateur about the delivery. I think "Apollo 18" is a taut and disturbing horror story that puts bigger budget disappointments like the cliché-filled "Cloverfield" to shame. Think "Moon" meets "Paranormal Activity". If that sounds like your type of movie, then don't let this one slip under your radar.

One of the worst films I've ever seen in the cinema
kirkwuk2 September 2011
With terrible special effects, wooden acting, uninspired characters, Apollo 18 is nothing short of a travesty of the highest order.

Nothing in Apollo 18 is new or inspiring, borrowing heavily from other "found footage" titles such as Paranormal Activity. Yet it cannot match the tension built. The characters are so dull and unlikable, you won't care what happens to them. Just showing a video of one of them at the start with a family doesn't make you care about them. There is a sequence near the end of the film which is so bad it could be replicated using Microsoft Powerpoint.

And the scares, with very few of them, are disappointingly non-scary. The aliens, not very threatening or enthralling. Apollo 18, is nothing you've not seen before.

To many damn assumptions....
blackmambamark2 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Most people seem to hate the whole 'hand-held' horror movie. "Blair Witch", "Paranormal Activity". The majority of the people i encounter say they hate em'. I however, love the hell out of em'. They're new and original. They offer something fresh to the horror market, because let's face it, i'm tired of seeing the same damn thing over and over again. I mean for Christ sakes, they have 7 'Saw' movies, and 5 'Final Destinations'. And is that wasn't enough, they're remaking all the classics. No matter how many people hate on the concept, i will STILL go and see every single one.

Unlike the other 'hand held' horror movies i mentioned before, this movie takes a much more different approach with it's style of filming. Since this is 'so-called' recovered footage from 1974, it's very grainy, it's frame rate is very slow, and it's slightly damaged. From a third party perspective, that might sound intriguing, and in a way it is. But there were some portions of the movie that got kind of annoying with their jump cuts and white-out techniques. But once you pass the 30 minute mark of the movie, you start to get use to the style they're using and you don't notice it as much.

But the biggest problem i had with the movie was the story. You see, in 'Blair Witch', they at least gave you a bit of back-story to what was going on. This one is all assumption......which i HATE. You can get by with this technique if you were covering something else like ghost, or evil spirits. Even though we know nothing of the subject, we get an idea of what the main characters are dealing with. But when you're in an unfamiliar place like the moon, and you're dealing with alien creatures, you need to explain a little more, otherwise your audience is left scratching their heads. And in this case, i was scratching pretty damn hard. Mainly because i had no idea why they were there, what they were dealing with, and what the governments intentions were. Like i said, it was nothing but assumptions.

And speaking of assumptions, you're going to have to assume what these creatures actually look like, because you never get that FULL establishing shot of what they actually look like. You either get a quick 1/2 second glance, or the film is so damaged that you can't make out what's on screen.

Not only that, you never get the idea of how these creatures operate. What are their intentions? How do they live? What are they capable of? WILL SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME DAMN ANSWERS FOR THIS MOVIE!!! However, amidst all the confusion, there is one thing i did like, and that was the level of intensity. There were certain sequences that really had me going. Throughout the entire movie, they did nothing build up more and more. So of course, i was expecting this super grand horror finale'. But it ended in a pretty dull and abrupt fashion. And once again, left me with more assumptions.

Bottom Line......i appreciate the movie for it's different style of filmaking. But the overall plot had more holes than the moon has craters. I think if they explained more and brushed up on some of the annoying editing techniques, then this movie would have been something to marvel at. It was alright, i didn't hate it, but it's not the type of movie i'd go raving to my friends about.

Not as bad as many people are saying
kdnor20114 January 2012
People HATE this movie, I mean, wow, do people hate this movie. When it came out there were several people going crazy about how much they hated this movie. Even my dad hated it, although he hated it because he didn't know it was about aliens. Then there are people who just don't like it because it was boring. Is there any one who can at least say that this movie was descent. Do not fear, North is Up is here. Apollo 18 isn't really that bad, it's sort of just an OK movie that had a lot of hype. And this did come out in 2011, the year of Alien movies, yet most of them sucked. Yet compared to Darkest Hour, Paul, Cowboys and Aliens, and Battle: LA, this movie isn't that bad.

It's a forgettable movie, with way too much padding, and generic characters. But I will give it this, there is enough suspense in there to make it through the movie once. That's it, it's really only interesting once, I saw it again and was even more bored. I never see myself watching it again.

But the acting is descent, the production value is really good, and it has it's moments. And unlike everyone else, I actually liked the monsters, they turned out to be something you would never expect. So Apollo 18 is a movie you may watch once and think it's OK, but it's really not worth a second viewing.

Apollo 18
MovieMadChrisB3 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I don't see why this film is so hated. I am a horror fan and i am a huge fan of the found footage horror films, like The Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield, REC and Paranormal Activity. And i have to say that Apollo 18 is another great found footage film. I know that with these films being marketed as real, people expect something different, but as all horror fans know by now, this isn't the case.

You can compare Apollo 18 to nearly all found footage horror films but that doesn't make the horror any less effective, there are some really good scare scenes in Apollo 18 that do make you jump quite a few times, which is something i have experienced since Paranormal Activity. Like Cloverfield the alien creatures are not fully revealed, we only see a few glimpses of the rock like creatures that do resemble crabs or spiders.

The acting is really good by the two cast members, and the storyline is simple but works really well. The tension does build throughout the film, and when they enter the dark shadows of the craters, it becomes unrelenting.

My only downside to the film is that it ended too soon, i believe that they could have ended it in a better way, but i still really enjoyed this film. If you are a fan of The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, or any other found footage horror film, then give this a try and don't be put off by the negative reviews. It is one of my favourite found footage films that i have seen.

Blair Witch in space
farcpr2 September 2011
Warning: Spoilers
*** This review contains lots of spoilers ***

Camera action right out of Blair witch. A boring story of three astronauts going on a secret mission that turns into a horror story with spiders. The spiders are more hinted at than actually shown. The camera problems were supposed to be '70s transmissions from space with lots of noise. Lots of noise that sounded like haunted house sounds. The noisy video actually ended up with several second of completely blank screen on more than one occasion. The spiders, who apparently morph into spiders from small rocks, managed to get under the skin (Alien like) of one of the astronauts. They find a Russian lunar lander and one dead Russian astronaut. They wonder out loud why there wasn't a second astronaut, but like most of the little mystery's in this movie they never tie that one up.

Perhaps there are those who like amateur (bad) camera work but it was used as a special effect in this movie to excess.

Skip this movie, go see Horrible Bosses again. Don't waste your money on this movie it will be available on DVD next week.

A surprisingly effective slow-burn...
drew_atreides2 September 2011
Have to admit i've been excited about the concept of this movie since i read about it about 7 months back... However, i also have to admit that, given it's release date, I was a bit worried that it would wind up a stinker...

I went in with adjusted expectations, wanting to enjoy it but also preparing for the worst..

I'm happy to say that it winds up a pretty effective little conspiracy- theory chiller..

The producers really do a great job of building tension in this closeted, isolated atmosphere, to an agonizing crescendo and then delivering with some truly horrific imagery.

Really wound up liking this one.

Decent found-footage horror flick; if you like that genre, you should like this

A found-footage horror movie that purports to have been recovered from NASA's secret final moon mission in the early 1970s. If you're a fan of found-footage horror movies, this one is definitely worth seeing. It follows the formula a little too closely, and in the end it's a tad disappointing. But, I must say, this is the only genre of horror movies that pretty much always scares me. It's all about keeping the threat off screen for as long as possible, giving only hints of it until the film nears the end. They rely mostly on boo! moments and loud noises, but it generally works, at least for me. There's a nice sense of dread for quite a while in the film, and, like The Blair Witch Project or Paranormal Activity, I was watching it with my eyes slightly averted from the screen. The ending of this one is pretty silly, and it denies us a final twist that it hints at frequently. Like those previous two movies I mentioned, I'll never watch this again, but I was quite entertained while watching it.

Terrible

Warning: Spoilers
I fell asleep along with the 5 other people I went with. Worst EVER. For my theater waste of $9.00. The effects, are just sad. The beginning introducing themselves is the most unbearable thing I have ever seen. Do not go, the monsters are rocks which are little spiders. The fake blood must have been ketchup. The dead person was sooo fake. They are complete idiots. And a hint to the directors. There is no gravity, they walk normally. Whenever they show the rover moving it looks and seems like it is just a camera on another screen. This is a cheaply made movie and the actors oh god the actors. They suck with in every way. And to top it off I had terrible popcorn and flat soda.
