A decent animated short--and a good bit better than several of the nominees.

The Oscar choices for Best Animated Short left me and the audience at the theater confused and annoyed when we saw them this morning. Never before had I gone to a showing of the Oscar-nominated shorts (animated or live action) and heard people loudly grumbling about the poor quality of the selections until today. And, while I was not in love with "Nullarbor", it was better than a few of the nominees.

The film is quite simple. It consists of a guy driving his convertible on the highway across the Outback of Australia when his urge for nicotine sets in and sets off a weird chain of events. The story has a few funny moments and the animation is decent (the backgrounds are rendered well). Nothing brilliant, but a nice little film that might make you chuckle. Parents might want to think twice before showing this to little ones, however, as there's some vomiting and a few crude scenes. Still, well worth seeing.

A driver across Australian desert. An old man, reminding a kind of old Humprhey Bogart. Few bad lucks of the first. And, after the end, simple conclusion than, except the not bad animation, the film has not a real story. And nothing more . Except few drops of humor.
