Great ep!

I always liked Upton even while mourning the loss of Erin Lindsay. That first appearance way back when she told Voight to get out of her crime scene was so funny. Tracy would've made a great Clarice Starling!

Her acting in this episode is incredible and it really shows what a selfless person her character is. The episodes that have been focusing on her this season have been some of my favorites out of the whole series. I hope she remains on this show for the rest of its run.

Very different episode
joekez-5084424 February 2022
This episode had a slower tempo than others and really focused on detective Upton as a fierce character. Tracy does a wonderful job of allowing the viewers to feel the emotions her character is feeling through her facial expressions. Great camera shots, writing and acting.

Compelling story
mdstern26 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A story not typical of other shows, this episode seemed more like a suspenseful noir than just another episode of a tv show. No continuing story and no cliffhangers; it was a self-sufficient tidy compelling story both for its Hitchcock-like suspense and further development of the Upton character. You really feel for her in her guilt of saving the wrong victim. And saving him twice? What a nifty added treat!

The kind of person Hailey Upton really is
zhizhilashvilinino8 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Looved this episode, really, very very well done. When Hailey pushes the guy in the pool, she contemplates wether to save him again or not, her final decision to save him actually shows us who Hailey really is. She is so selfless, the darkness we saw in her from 7th season is still there, but she is a great person and a great cop, who actually cares a lot about people (like the rest of the team). Also, saving the "wrong" person, that is something that will never leave you, it must be hard, really pity her, she did so much, risking her own life, to save him. And it mustn't have been easy to film those underwater and car crash scenes, kudos to the actress and the whole crew who worked on it.

The writing is back!
firsthandhealth-9781319 March 2023
I can't say enough about this episode. After the writing went just to racial divide during 2020-2021 it brings back human emotions. And "Hayley" plays this part impeccably. From her beyond realistic cold water chills to watching her eyes and seeing into her heart her struggles every step of the way she was absolutely exquisite in her acting ability. The actress was no longer there, only the character. This is a story that everyone should watch because everyone can relate to our internal guilt and feelings of failure. Those who try to save others and feel it's our job to do so, and then fail, and then realize we are only human. A powerful story.

Excellent episode!

This is certainly my favorite episode. I usually watch PD cause I like the other 2 Chicago Wednesday shows that are on first. But I actually really enjoyed this one, it had feeling and meaning to it. I think it hit home cause I'm a woman and a mom.

Fantastic episode
cockezville27 February 2022
I was really not enjoying Chicago PD so much as every episode had to do with gangs and drugs and Jason Beghe was getting on my nerves with his character.

This episode was fantastic, written so well, directed perfectly with solid camera work and acting. I was mesmerized the whole episode.

More like this one. I would like it if Beghe leaves and a new boss changes the department. It might give the show a zap it needs.

Flashlights
karl_johan6428 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Is there anybody here who can tell me why they are running arround in a dark house with flashlights? I guess there is a main switch for the light in the house! This is really bad police work. You could just put a marker on your body and say: Here I am, shoot me! This is happening every time.

yep

Warning: Spoilers
Agree with another reviewer who pretty much said the episodes are very predictable she regreted saving the dude and of course in the end, she is the one who faced the guy alone... basically what happend the following episode with kim facing the bad guy by herself... and as usual winning easily.

Main char armor in this episode with hailey disarming the guy and kicking him into the pool, yeah right

at least she did not go all annoying and shouted at jay for worrying about her do notice that when it is other way around, jay talks to her and if he tries to do anything solo, she tells him off.

A good start but a weak ending
polite-4569228 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A good start but a weak ending. Hailey's do-gooding went wrong, which gave an interesting (by PD's standard) perspective. The later scene of struggling with the criminal and having to save him (again) was weak and unimaginative.

It is tiresome that an old, worn out cop like Hailey is depicted as overpowering an aggressive male who is willing to assault, rape, and murder. It is ridiculous that he again fell into water unconscious and drowning, for Hailey to save. A little more effort at writing could have made it a good episode.
