Air Raid And Gas
boblipton13 June 2020
Jack Livesey's is the strong, confident voice telling the audience that no one in Britain wants war, but if it comes, they'll fight to victory.

This short film from the GPo's film unit was released in the middle of September, when Britain was already at war, a false war that would last until the following spring. Its messageis to be prepared for air raids and gas attacks, so build that shelter in the back yard out of corrugated steel and always keep that gas mask to hand.

Given the events of the following year, it's ironic to note that one of the signs shown while Livesey is speaking of service interruptions, states that the ferry service to and from DUnkirk has been halted for the day. Eventually they would get it running, barely in time.
