As the Nazis are making their way to the west, posing a huge threat to the British, the people living in small towns are under duress. James receives his letter to report to the RAF for training. He has but a few days to say goodbye to his loved ones, Helen of course at the top. So much of this episode has a dark cloud over it. While this goes on there are some comedic moments. Carmody must learn to drive a car because he will be left behind to do James' job as Siegfried's assistant. He also can't quite grasp the niceties of dealing with people and their foibles. He has a rough time understanding Trickie and why he is so much adored. There is also the challenge of caring for a cat who has been found at the side of the road with a broken limb. And Mrs. Hall is told that Gerald will be leaving because of his sister's health. She is heartbroken, so we have whole other factor invading the lives of our friends. Very good episode.
