S7: Typically odd stuff with a pretty consistent standard which will mostly please those still with it

At some point in a television show's run you stop worrying about whether or not you're going to win over new viewers, and instead just focus on the base of what your show is about and try to keep appealing to that while also keeping it fresh. With a show like this one that probably happens about 2 episodes in, since it is very much a select taste and if it is going to just annoy you then probably that will happen quite quickly. The seventh season for sure is not too worried about being accessible or opening the door a bit wider.

In keeping on doing what it does I found this season typically odd and fun. Plots vary wildly but essentially they allow the characters to be themselves, with plenty for everyone to have some time. There were episodes I preferred to others, but mostly this was related to my preference for the characters as opposed to the material itself varying. Mostly though it is true to its characters and its style humor. The writing is so deliberately odd that you at often forget how creative and strong it is – it would be wrong to dismiss it as silly (even if it is) or puerile (even if it is) because even a bleaker episode like Larry Miller Hair System has a weird core idea which it runs with very well – likewise One Hundred.

Of course not to everyone's taste, but a strong season of good consistency.
