A strong opening episode.

It's the end of the seventies, Times Square, New York, and The Police are dealing with a sexual sadist, after two women are found dead in a hotel room.

I have been to Times Square, and it is the most incredible place, if I'm honest I didn't know its history, this really did surprise me.

A true scene setter, this is one very gritty opening episode. I was surprised by just how much detail they went into here, it's harrowing, it's graphic, it makes for some uncomfortable viewing.

It's immaculately produced, and doesn't feel overdone, some of the more recent ones have been overly done.

8/10.

It's New York

Wow, what a salacious first episode. Maybe going a bit too in depth into the sex scene of New York in the late 70s, but it certainly set the tone. The interviews were relevant and the timeline of events established.

It's A Long Way From Mayberry

This episode of a train wreck is brought to you by mister Ron Howard.

I've been to New York City a few times back in the 70's- just passing through on my way to visit friends who had to move to Canada for "health reasons".

NYC was a crap hole and I never felt comfortable there.

Being in a place where people were able to do pretty much whatever they wanted to do with (or for) money- I felt like I was on the very threshold of hell.

This story, as sick and dark as it is, doesn't really surprise me.

Psychopaths are products of their environments.
