The attack of the cult
AvionPrince1617 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So the mainly event of this episode remain the attack of the cult on Leanne and how they wanted her to be back in their side. They seem more frightening and used force. But the other big event of this episode is the return of Dorothy who seem to get better. Im pretty convinced by the episode even if it feel a little bit empty in term of narration, surprises and revelations. We just had a big fight and a return of Dorothy. We just feel maybe that Dorothy and Leanne will not really be fine together but thats pretty implicit for now. Things seems good for the next episodes. This one had tensions mostly with the fight. But thats all to be honest. Need to see more.

Oooh! Starting off with a bang!
QuadeC201013 January 2023
Off to a good start already! I am stoked yet saddened that this will be the final season of Servant. Servant has always been my winter watching series and I look forward to it every year. I kinda lost track of it a while back, but I can't help but feel glued to it nonetheless. I love the characters and the setting.

Following up season 3, this season starts off with a bang. There isn't a lot to really take in yet, as it really is more of an intro episode without a ton of content. But it is fast-paced, wild, and intense! I'm not going to lie, this feels like the creepiest the show has ever been. However, there is one aspect that I'm not exactly crazy about so far. I won't give it away, but it did happen at the end. Considering the ending of season 3, it definitely wasn't expected, not for myself anyway.

But, bring it on! I am so ready for a new season to eagerly look forward to each week. I will have to rewatch it all the way through once this season is over for a refresher. If the rest of the season moves like this first episode, we will be in for a wild, crazy treat! I have so many questions right now, and I am hoping we find out some answers this season!

Pigeon

Warning: Spoilers
I mean, there were parts of this that were entertaining. I love 90's action films and 80's action films so I love the ridiculous nature of some of the fighting and the violence here, but I also feel like this should have been a few scenes and just a small part of the show and not the entirety of the season premiere. This is the last season of a show that has been integral to Apple TV+ and has kept the horror genre on television alive. This just felt like a massive letdown by every measurement, even if the strong directing and the engaging Leanne character was enough to keep me interested in this.

Half and half

One of my favorite shows, couldn't wait to watch the first episode of the final season. But God, I forgot how short each episode is, and how just when it starts to peak and you can't wait to see what's around the corner, the episode ends.

I should have remembered from the past three seasons, but knowing that this is the final season, I was really hoping that they would increase the runtime a little bit more.

It was good, packed with more intrigue, more creepiness, and more questions that need to be answered. It just sucks so hard to have to wait for every Friday for each new episode.

Won't spoil anything but this looks like and has the feeling, that it's going to be a great season and a heck of a finale.

Thought it would be a dream

Warning: Spoilers
So the bulk of this episode was Leanne being attacked by the cult, as she locks herself in the family car. All throughout the attack, I kept asking, "Where is EVERYONE else who lives on that street?" The car horn is blaring, hundreds of pigeons are descending on a mass of people attacking a car. For that reason, I thought we'd find Leanne was having a nightmare. But no, it seems it was supposed to be real.

There are some weird writing choices here. Last season, Leanne was increasingly confident of her considerable powers, even down to orchestrating the seemingly accidental death of Dorothy's colleague. Now, she's locked herself in a car, panicking at the mass of Lesser Saints who seem staggeringly incompetent.

'Servant' is a strange animal. It reveals very little, yet still manages to keep you watching. If you haven't give up on it by now, you know you're going to keep watching to the end.

Season 4 is off to a BAD Start
onikage-4932417 January 2023
This show has so much potential and it comes so close to being good, even great at times, which makes a season premiere like this so disappointing.

Leanne is the star of the show and I really like the actress, which is why its such a shame that they have her constantly change her character's personality in a matter of seconds.

There's a sequence in this episode that lasts for almost the entire runtime and it starts out ok but gets more ridiculous and almost comical as it goes on. It sets rules for the events that it then just throws completely out the window with a climax that you should have no regrets when you burst out laughing.

The "Church" is supposed to be a threat and while I've accepted its members are apparently Ninjas who can constantly vanish in broad daylight, what they have them do (and fail at) in this episode is just so stupid. They can't even be seen as a threat at this point.

The biggest issue I have is that the show refuses to explain anything. This isn't a clever "Leave it up to the viewer" its actually intentional that it uses as bait to keep us waiting/hoping for something, ANYTHING, to finally be explained even partially.

Rupert Grint is the best part of this show and once again he's the only good thing in the entire episode.

STOP DELAYING THE INEVITABLE FFS
talhacarrim16 September 2023
It's the 4th season and I'm still waiting for something BIG to happen...after an average S3, they ended with a great cliffhanger, only for it to be anticlimactic af. Nothing in this episode furthers the plot.

I really liked the first 2 seasons, and even though I did notice that the pacing was very slow & nothing substantial happens, I kinda forgave them because the production, directing and camera work was sublime.

I just hoped that in the latter seasons they'd drive the plot forward and actually make the jeopardy a reality. But they're still tiptoeing around the what needs to happen. They're delaying the inevitable

The series was an 8/10 after 2 seasons but dropped to a 7/10 after S3...if S4E1 is anything to go by, it might just drop further down smh.

bored of this now.
j-932375 February 2023
Was really entertained by the first few seasons. I found this opening episode of season 4 pathetic.

I'm not even sure if if i'm going to watch episode 2 anytime soon, i really just don't care this episode ruined my interest.

I'm not going to bother explaining why as it's obvious and you can see for yourselves.

Right now, rubbish like "la brea" seems more interesting and that really is awful.

It really feels like an insult to my intelligence when obvious stupidity is used to further the plot and when these stupid things are pinnacle to the plot it becomes unbelievable and laughable.

At least this series isn't shoving people sexuality down our throats like it's even interesting or important... so it gets 4 stars for that.
