Engaging drama introduces a new star
lor_10 December 2021
Carollina Cherry earlier had a supporting role in the Dorcel feature "Anna, the Influencer", starring Anna Polina, and now Anna spotlights her as the heroine of Polina's second film as director, "Second Chance". It's a triumph for both ladies.

Cherry plays Alexandra, a 30-something woman who works as a realtor partnered with her fiance Gabriel (Ricky Mancini). After a romantic candle-lit dinner at home and spirited lovemaking, the next morning Gabriel callously ends their engagement and gives Alexandra her walking papers, announcing he doesn't want to spend the rest of their lives together.

Out of a job as well, Alexandra is in despair, but is befriended in a bar by Laura (Dorcel superstar Clea Gaultier), a yoga instructor. Female bonding ensues and Laura introduces Alex to a powerful friend of hers, restaurateur Lena (the imposing Ania Kinski), and soon our heroine is back in the world, opening herself to unbridled sexuality after being invited to a swingers private club by Lena.

Casting of Carollina is astute, as she projects a natural, earthy personality that is instantly empathetic for the viewer, and an effective departure from the Dorcel standard of ultra-glamorous, statuesque actresses like Clea and Anna. As for Polina, her movie is well-shot with careful attention to detail, eliciting warm performances from her femme leads.
