Warning: Spoilers
A superb episode, juggling several characters and plot points(all the regulars appear bar Tom and Pippa)and managing to sparkle throughout. The opening confrontation between Alf and Frank brilliantly manages to subvert expectations:It could be a simple example of an overprotective father coming down hard on his daughter's new boyfriend but instead, despite the bluster, he listens to Frank and comes to trust him.(Of course, Frank's still lying about the band which is probably going to come back and bite him...)

There are far too many high points in this episode to mention:Floss and Neville's chat about the bagpipes, the superbly crafted scene between Ailsa, Martin and Lance with Ailsa being wonderfully sarcastic and Lance getting all the best laughs, the deft way Bobby's chequered relationship history is filled in, Carly's gambit with Martin, Roo's carefully crafted insult to Lance("You're the only person I know who does someone else's stutter for them"), Lynn and Nico back interacting and being cute about it, the perfectly played fond awkwardness between Alf and Ailsa...It even manages a fairly decent cliffhanger.

Proof that Bevan Lee really is one of the best writers on this series.
