A Chance to Meet Rob Fournier
charlytully27 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Rob Fournier has been the gun runner (otherwise known as armorer, or outside the USA, armourer) for far better movies than SMOKIN' ACES 2: ASSASSIN'S BALL. These superior features include REINDEER GAMES (2000), ROMEO MUST DIE (also 2000), X2 (2003), and even American PIE PRESENTS: THE BOOK OF LOVE (2009). However, this "man behind the guns" does not appear on the DVD extras for any of those flicks. So perhaps the best reason to grab the DVD for SA2 is to hear all about the four horsemen of the apocalypse (that is, AK, Colt, RPG, Beretta) from the horse's mouth. Such tidbits as "the heat from an AK reaches 450 degrees (Fahrenheit) near the barrel in less than 30 seconds" will no doubt have fans of the Tremor Family Snipers drooling all over themselves.

The one sour note struck in this 258.24 second DVD extra--which shoe-horns in comments from 13 cast and crew members in true Gatling gun rapid-fire fashion--is Fournier's admission that "the actual RPG warheads are much bigger than the ones shown in this movie." I say, if C. Ernst Harth, the actor who played mentally-challenged-but-RPG-wielding Baby Boy Tremor in SA2, was too wimpy to handle an actual-sized RPG warhead, then producer Joe Carnahan should have cast some jarhead in this less-than-demanding part who could have delivered the authentic performance the type of discerning audience SA2 targets obviously demands!
