This is a good old fashioned style murder mystery show reminiscent of the shows my parents watched when I was young. An ongoing storyline with weekly murder mysteries to be solved, just plain fun.

Great Main Characters, lazy writing though

Overall enjoyed the majority of the series episodes. This final episode though, was a bit of a letdown.
No real plot resolution, while trying to continue the storyline into the potential next season w/ last minute additions, which is unfair to the characters that they've been creating.

More soap than mystery

Aww! Where was the who-dun-it for this specific episode? Yes we had the main series arc at the end but that conclusion was obvious weeks ago. Far too much irrelevant soapy storytelling at the expense of a mystery, and although I watch Paul O'Grady on every instalment of the Battersea Dogs show, here his part was predominantly just a time-wasting stereotypical gimmick. Over the last three episodes, the unoriginal secondary and tertiary character stories have increasingly squeezed out the titular crime-solving format set up early on. In what are already short episodes compared to many UK mysteries, there just isn't space and the writing needs to stick to the initial premise. I'm not sure I'll bother with anymore. UPDATE: Good news! The Christmas episode (S2.1) and S2.3 are great so I'm sticking with Mme Blanc ... for now.
Love this cozy show.

Warning: Spoilers
Feels like the writers were set to finish the series but then the show got renewed and they cut out a sensible ending and put in a terrible one that gives no explanation why Jean stays, just so they can have un saison deux.

If they were hoping that viewers would be curious to watch season 2, well that is not going to happen with this viewer.
It had good hope from episode 1. How many here figured from the episode 1 that the woman in the red nails was the lady sitting with her in the airplane? I did!

The Madame Blanc Mysteries concludes with indifference.
Jean contemplates a future with Dom but his estranged wife arrives.
It means Jean opts for a life back in Manchester and sell her property in France. She contacts the estate agent based in France, the one who sat on the plane with her.
There was nothing much in the final episode. No big clue that leads to the reveal of the central story arc.
Dom's wife was just horrible and greedy. Jean has a confrontation with the villainess who reveals herself and it is a set up for a second series.
Channel 5 would probably commission it until they decide what other old properties from the BBC or ITV they can remake.
