This is a fun and enjoyable documentary on the making of Halloween. Most hardcore fans won't walk away from this learning anything new, but it's a rather entertaining watch regardless. Irwin Yablans comes off like a bit of a tool, but everybody else is enjoyable to listen to. A worthy watch for horror fans.

Behind the scenes look at one of horror's greatest films!

Season 3 of "Netflix's" "The Movies That Made Us" "Halloween" episode looked at how one of the most important and cultural films of all time was made. Fresh out of "USC" film school young rocker John Carpenter and his buddy Tommy Wallace got together with producer Irwin Yablans to make a horror feature however it would be without any blood. Plus the mask was revealed to be a cut out and William Shattner job. Plus revealed was how John scored and did his own music which scared and made this slasher a classic, plus shown is his fine camera work of corners, shadows, and darkness as Carpenter took a little from Hitchcock's page. Overall a must watch for any "Halloween" fan as this short doc was fun and entertaining with clips and interviews and told some stuff as a fan you may not know.
Quirky Style With Some Fun Behind-The-Scenes Stories

This "Movies That Made Us" series takes a tone that is light-hearted, sometimes even a little goofy, and full of whiz-bang visual effects. Like that approach or not, it always at least somewhat "makes up for it" with access (e.g. Interviews) with key members of the production.
In this "Halloween" installment, the filmmakers primarily talk with distributor Irwin Yablans, editor Tommy Lee Wallace, and actor Nick Castle (the man portraying The Shape!). They all recount various stories from the film's inception and production, such as making it on a shoestring budget, putting together the cast, finding the iconic mask, and working under the genius of John Carpenter. These stories might not be anything new for more seasoned Halloween film buffs, but it is still fun to hear them being told by first-person sources.
Overall, I enjoyed this little romp through some of the history of perhaps the most iconic horror film ever made. Sometimes the comedic tone of this series doesn't mesh all that well with the content of the clips from the film, but the experience still manages to be engaging on the whole.

Terrible Production

I literally created an account to write on how bad this is made. The narrator is extremely annoying and the constant random useless cut scenes make it beyond unenjoyable. Would be a great and informative watch without the horribly paced goofy vibe and over-edited nonsense.
Yablans ruins this

Look all you need to know is John Carpenter had no part in this documentary and that's no coincidence. Yablans it's there for an hour in clothes he bought at a house he owns because of John Carpenters legendary work. Yablan was the producer behind this movie while JC had FULL CREATIVE control. Yablan didn't influence this movie in nearly the way he wants you to think.
