China seduced by capitalism
mario_c27 February 2011
It's a very interesting short film about China and about the shock between the traditional past and the emerging future of capitalism and modernity. The film tells us, in few minutes, the story a young woman that lives in the countryside, poor and connected to the farm activities, and is taken by mysterious man, inside a luxurious car, to the large and modern city of Shanghai, passing through avenues with large buildings, full of lights and advertising spots, entering in shopping centers and everything that symbolizes capitalism. The good thing is that it's shot with great photography creating a unique cinematography. This young woman seems like a metaphor to me that in fact represents China itself. China which lived poor and backwards in the past and now is seduced by capitalism and "occidental modernism".
