Cracking third episode.
Sleepin_Dragon21 June 2022
Harry and Jean's hunt for Dawson sees the pair land in Beirut, they find someone offering to help, but the price for the help is a big one.

For me this was the most accomplished episode so far, this third installment was energetic, fast paced, action packed, and lavishly produced.

Many locations used here, they clearly didn't stint on the budget for this one, it's a grand production. The story really has come to life, and as I've said before, it's so easy to follow.

I'm not sure how easily blonde bombshell Jean would have blended into the background, I found the scene where she was tailing, a little challenging.

Anyone who enjoys coffee and baklava is good in my book.

8/10.

Another engrossing episode

Look forward to this each week on my list of upcoming programmes. This one does not disappoint, though of the three this is the weakest. Still superb throughout. Joe Cole and Lucy Boynton have a beautifully understated chemistry which fits well with the ethos of the story.

We had a glimpse of modern-day whiny feminism creeping into a dialogue from Boynton's character - this was short lived and as a private discussion with Harry is reasonable enough. She shows her feminist qualities through action, poise and subtle control of those around her without having to dump a dissertation onto it.

Episode 3
Prismark1021 March 2022
Harry Palmer and Jean go off to Beirut to find Professor Dawson. Former diplomat Ian Randal holds him captive and Harry knows that he was previously based in Beirut.

Events do not go smoothly in Beirut, they need the help of Major Dalby to fix things with Adem. A former contact of Randal.

Meanwhile the Americans are intrigued with what Dalby is up to. Maybe they have the seeds of suspicions about him.

Harry displays his proletariat attitude to an old friend of Jean who works as a diplomat in Beirut. Both he and Jean get romantically close.

There was a correlation between Le Carre's spy novels in this episode. No one can mention just what exactly the do. Dalby's wife thinks he works in the government trade department. Negotiating Britain's entry to the EEC.

Jean's fiancé has called off their engagement. She is away a lot.

Even though with foreign location shooting. I think that was Malta stepping in for Lebanon. The six part series is showing its flabbiness.

There was a wonderful shootout at the end and more explaining for both Harry and Major Dalby to do.

Weak

Very simply this show continues to be lousy, with ITV unable to add anything new to the classic film.

Lucy Boynton remains the only saving grace.

In a dire weekend for ITV where they seemed to assume the whole world loved sport this was another poor showing.
