I miss the old Rick and Morty
zchase-3115826 July 2021
What happened to the writers from the first three seasons? I feel like Rick and Morty is slowly drifting away from what it used to be. Wasn't really funny at all and felt like Rick and Morty were just two side characters. They need to get back on their game.

Another "Meh" episode in a increasingly mediocre season
icm-1173426 July 2021
The show is really starting to feel disjointed. There's typically one or two lines of quippy dialogue exchanged then there's a scene change. I'm shocked that no one's noticed that we haven't gotten one solid Rick and Morty solo adventure this season. A majority of this season has been spent on earth.... In a show where the whole galaxy and other dimensions are creative focal point of the entertainment. The sperm episode is slowly looking like a common denominator than a outlier and the characters have no motivations. Their established personalities arent being built on either as their is no continuity between episodes and no over-arching tone for the season. This is probably one of the better episodes of the season as the turkey scenes are kinda funny..... Kinda.

Enjoyable if you turn your brain off, but very busy
mechashark26 July 2021
This is a decent episode compared to the disaster that was S5#E4 and the somewhat boring S5#E5. The animation team sure was busy with this one. While a tad on the "too silly" side, the turkey theme drew a few giggles.

My main issue was the screenplay feeling overcrowded with ideas. For example, the whole FDR insert could have been removed. Would you miss it? It wasn't too funny and was over about as fast as it was introduced. So, why bother? Feels like in earlier seasons these kinds of things were probably shoehorned in but ultimately pulled to make room for higher quality and less distracted A stories.

Personally, I miss the slower pace of S1 and S2 with brainier concepts at play and more room to breathe, but still keeping to whacky core themes. It would appear we've reached the stage where the writers/creators are having a hard time doing the balancing act and are defaulting to "what is the most bizarro thing we can do."

However, here's to hoping for at least this quality or better for the rest of S5.

Another mediocre episode
skelebobinterdevil26 July 2021
It feels so bad to see a show you love to lose its charm. After the previous few episodes I was hoping that the show would take a turn, but it still hasn't, if this goes on then it's probably gonna be the worst season of Rick and Morty. I did not enjoy Rick and Morty being sidelined, they're very smart and cool characters with endless possibilities, but the writers aren't utilizing the characters well (in my opinion, that is). I hope the next episode will be more like ep 1 or 2.

Its now clear the show's gone down the drain...
sumtim3s00n26 July 2021
One would understand one, maybe two bad episodes despite even that would be unusual for the "original" RnM and the passion the creators put into it in the past. But this.... this Rick and Morty now, it is something completely different. Lame, unfunny, unadventurous, stupid, boring...

As usual, money walks... Shame on you Harmon and whoever is the other guy, selling out like a typical hollywood S holes.

Another terrible episode in what's shaping up to be the worst season of the show
jancape26 July 2021
Somehow I think the writers just gave up this season. The 70-episode order made them complacent and the show is suffering as a result. It's going the way of long-standing animated shows like Family Guy, a bunch of lame jokes and random gags strung together by a flimsy plot.

Jaded RnM fans chill out
clayusaf26 July 2021
I think everyone forgot the premise of this show in its entirety. Last night episode was a full display of how ridiculous this show can be. And it was wonderful.

The writing is still good. The characters are still good. Enjoy the show for once. You will get your Evil Morty fix.

did everyone see the same episode I saw?
dawithermc27 July 2021
It was really good not a 10/10 actually, but i'm giving it a 10 cause of the low score, i feel like the Rick and Morty fans that think they're smart are actually idiots tbh, it's a cartoon, the point of the show is to have stupid fun, this episode had plenty of that.

Please save R&M!
masoud_ahmadi26 July 2021
The first two episodes were great but after that ... Without any doubt, the worst season of the show; one of the best shows in the history of TV is officially collapsing!

I do not know whether it's because of new writers or anything else, anyhow, PLEASE SAVE R&M!

P.s: Whatever we have seen so far (including the next episode), cover all the 3 thrillers; so, no scene from the last three episodes(8,9,10)! Let's hope they will surprise us!

Warning: Spoilers
Come on how do they think of these things?? A turkey president fighting the real president, inevitably losing thus pulling out its own rib as a wishing bone and wishing to explode. Incredible. The ancient warriors destined to kill turkeys. The classic stereotypical poor American family story where the husband is a solider and the wife is pregnant. I can't get enough of this show.

People are down on that one path...
CinemaFX26 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Well, well... This is a very fun episode.

Had that one episode with the Horse and Baby hadn't happened, people would be giving this one over 8 rating.

Yes, I too feel that Rick and Morty bit sidelined this episode, well no actually - Rick has been a backseat character all this season (even in Episode 7 - Summer's the hero or Morty). Morty has been the primary character and even in this one, he kickstarts the episode.

All in all, very great return to form but even episode 5 had great things like Return of Spaceship Car and for the initial part - The Hell's Gimmick. But 6.9? No, you guys are just mean.

Cool Concept, Lazy episode
thekingmanx26 July 2021
It just feels like they stopped trying to make good episodes. This episodes has probably one of the funniest and most out there plots and yet it just feels so lifeless and dead. Rick and Morty have essentially nothing to do this episode. Rick is basically a background character the entire time and Morty barely even talks. Rather than having an adventure it just feels like they are moving around because the plot demands it. The president is back in this episode too and he isn't that great either. There are some funny jokes but most of them are just lazily delivered or not good. By the end of the episode the plot just completely falls apart and it feels like they stop trying to make anything of value. This season has been so disappointing and this episode just makes me feel the Rick and Morty are destined to fall into mediocrity.

Feels like i was watching family guy, simpson ect.
theliongazelle28 July 2021
Its obvious that this show is becoming more and more like family guy. Family guy is great but R&M was something else. It feels like rick and morty is just tagging along in the plot, instead from creating it.

Another unfunny episode
winchestertrista27 July 2021
The writing just feels so forced. The jokes don't hit, one of the best parts about R&M is because they improvised more than most shows, but it feels like they just totally abandoned it this season. Rick makes jokes that just seem out of character for him. As always, the animation is great, the show is entertaining, just not funny. Almost all jokes missed this episode. Definitely need a writing change after this season.

Best Filler
nerdgasms18 August 2021
Out of all these filler type episodes so far, this ones at least kinda fun to watch, funny, and the writing isn't as bad.

Some funny bits in 22 minutes of meh
Kash8984448 August 2021
Honestly, President Keith David Obama has been the worst recurring character addition this show has made. Every episode with him has ranged from borderline OK (Get Schwifty) to vomit (Rickdependence Spray). This one is closer to vomit.

What is this episode even riffing on? National Treasure? White House Down? American Sniper? The writing used to have occasional flair and originality. You would have episodes that didn't feel like boilerplate "send-ups." Now it's just cringe. Maybe don't renew a show for 7 seasons so the creators don't space out their good ideas and/or stop trying.

What episode 4 should've been
benavraham199826 July 2021
Great episode after 2 lackluster ones!

Jokes hit hard, the concept is classic Rick and Morty and the Rick-President dymamics is on point!

Solid 8/10.

Worst season of the show so far
aambrosio-0600827 July 2021
Not a terrible episode especially compared to the monstrosity that was episode 4. Hope the episodes pick it up though because this has easily been the worst season so far.

Awesome, insane episode
hthreaps26 July 2021
I loved the way this episode (and all episodes this season) started with a simple premise that built and built to this awesome insane climax. This episode also had some really funny moments and insane arcs.

There's a lot of negativity about the show at the moment but it'll pass. All shows have a moment where some people don't like the direction it takes and form a bandwagon, but in time this series will be recognised as the awesome series it was. I'd rather Rick and Morty chose their path and committed then tried to appease all types of fans.

And guys chill, you'll get your story. I love the story too, but it's a balance. Wait for the finale episodes, they're Jeff Loveness who's a great writer and he's said some big plot is coming up.

Have they run out of planets?
BitFangs26 July 2021
We're more than halfway through the season and yet the episodes are circling back to the President and our planet "Earth". If you remember Season 2 and 3, most of the episodes were on distant planets with weird creatures and very unique plots.

Now, on to this episode's review: It was "watchable". Also, I expected this one to have multiple story lines going on but it didn't. I love Rick and Morty for the fact that in a single twenty-minute episode it has so many things going on, different characters have their own stories and events going on. This isn't the case anymore. I gave it a 6 because it was not boring. But it was not a classic Rick and Morty episode either.

Rick and Morty ruined itself
rmmil26 July 2021
I absolutely love most R+M episodes, but this was (yet again) a "meh" season 5 one for me.

I believe the current state of Rick and Morty exists as it does because somewhere around season 3-4, there began a large amount of meta jokes, pointing fun at the show itself.

That was fine, and it WAS funny at times, but it happens so often now that we know the show has "no stakes" because it reminds the viewer of this all the time. "Winking" at the audience is lame if you do it all the time.

Now we're left with just a bunch of wacky randomness that "doesn't matter" every week, and the characters reminding us of this, almost constantly. No cohesion between episodes, no character building, no point. It's getting very boring.
