Star Trek Voyager ripoff
a2229995 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The plot was taken from the Voyager episode Coda. Captain Janeway is almost killed. She believes she is crossing over to the other side when she is greeted by her dead father. However it turns out it's not her father but a being that wants to kill her and take absorb her energy. Before she figures out that it's not her Dad the being tries to manipulate her into going with him. This is much like what happens in this episode. She even tells him to go to hell just like Chester does. The writers must be Star Trek fans. Cmon writes you get paid enough to come up with some new ideas.

Ranking every Flash episode: Phantoms
lbramson22 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I don't get the immense hate for this episode. I don't like this episode, but I think it's way overhated. Like the episode isn't nearly that bad! The tension in this episode is really good, especially with Chester's dad. I get that the stuff with Iris is really boring and it sucks! I don't care about Iris and this metahuman girl! But putting that aside, this episode is decent. This episode definitely gave me a new respect for Chester. His character is portrayed as someone with a broken, tragic past and I REALLY like that. All the characters get up close and personal with the Black Flame which is great! The pacing of this graphic novel is super fast because they are already taking action. Unfortunately that is only the last 15 minutes. The rest of it, especially the stuff with Iris either sucks or isn't particularly interesting. Those 15 minutes are good enough to hold this episode up.

Another good episode for the Flash!
b_yocum31 March 2022
I gotta admit, I wasn't sure what to expect this episode, but I was not disappointed. Let me just start off by saying this is easily one of Chester's best episodes of the entire show in my opinion. Brandon McKnight (aka the actor who plays Chester) had a very good performance, making it one of his best acting performances yet! Now for the rest of the episode, I know this is just the first episode of the graphic novel, so it wasn't as action packed as one would hope, but had a good introduction to the villain. Overall, I have high hopes for the next coming episodes!

9/10.

Haven't even finished and I'm bored
haadiyausman31 March 2022
The flash isn't what it used to be. I spent like five years obsessing over this show. Telling my friends that it's amazing. Now I can barely get through an episode. The first 2 seasons were so much better and I'm afraid it just gets worse. The cw just doesn't know when to end a series.

It's not even the actors fault. It's just bad writing. The show used to be about action and about the flash himself. Now it's a family show where he is another background character.

Im trying so hard to not give up on the show, but it's not getting any easier. Im starting to wonder if anyone involved in the making of the show takes into consideration the opinions people have. It sure doesn't feel like it.

Not as good as episode 8 but still good
Bruh263_Movies31 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode wasnt as good as episode 8 but its still good. Let me list what i think are the pros and cons.

Pros: 1. The actor that plays chester did a great job.

2. Iris was actually doing her job as a reporter. Iris is finally not the main character of the show.

3. Allegra wasnt in the episode as much😊I hate allegra, its a good thing that they didnt force her into the episode 4. I dont think there were any cheesy lines in this episode which is a plus

Cons: 1. VFX looked off. The fire vfx looked a bit weird and unrealistic.

2. The fire villains powers were confusing to me(like how do they work) 3. Joe isnt in as much episodes any more. He hasnt been that much in the season. Hes only appeared in 4 episodes. Maybe they just cant find a storyline for :/.

4. The chemistry between barry and iris is long gone.

Anyways this episode was good just not really good. I feel like this season is picking from season 5,6,7 and slowly becoming Good. Its still poor in some areas thi

7.5/10 -good.

The Flash - Guest Starring the Flash
aopek14 October 2022
This show is so bad by now. It is not about Flash anymore and it is not about superheroes. It is about a bunch of women and other people who are in command of this show and they let Barry co-star from time to time.

If you like morning children shows with boring people who talk all the time about love, family, courage with nothing smart or new to say again and again, this show is for you.

If you loved Arrowverse in the beggining with people being real Superheroes who were fighting for something important, move on.

Nothing to see here any more. Even the cast knows by now and doesn't even try to be good.

Good episode. And kicks of this graphic novel with suspense.
prometheus1987031 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was pretty good despite it being Chester emphasised. Yes, this episode was mostly about Chester, but don't let that disappoint you. Now this episode is divided into 2 parts, the phantom girl part and the black flame.

This fire meta or "black flame" continues its burning of victims. Team Flash capture a sample of the fire to study it, but it's unlike anything they've seen before. And this fire tries to attack Chester mentally.

It feeds on Chester's grief and personifies itself as Chester's dad and asks him to come with him. It uses Chester's guilt of not being too close to his father and asks him to come with him(upon which if Chester agrees, he gets burnt like the other victims),however Chester resists it with the help of allegra and cecil. And eventually drive it away.

Joe finds out that each of the black flames victims had suffered a loss, and along with cecil's telepathy powers ,team flash come to the conclusion that this meta needs to feed on the people's grief, anger, guilt etc. To survive and that the flames are actually the meta not some person who is trying to control it.

There wasn't much going on for phantom girl (tinya) here. Iris hears about some sort of ghost meta in coast city through Sue and so decides to tag along with sue to investigate this. The reason why she went to coast city was because she wanted a distraction from the time sickness problems shed been experiencing (ill talk about that later).

Tinya is a teenager in coast city who was left in foster care by her birth mother. She is searching for her mother now. She apparently had latent meta genes which had awakened due to some emotional distress about finding her mother (sounds a lot like x men).

Iris tracks her down and offers her help to which Tinya reluctantly agrees. That's pretty much it apart from the fact that tinya can walk through walls.

Regarding iris's time sickness, she talks to deon about what she has been experiencing and deon tries to find out what is exactly wrong with her and presumably where and how she got that time sickness. He comes back with the info at the end of the episode, but the episode ends on that and we have to wait and see what's up with that.

Since this episode was emphasised on Chester that means we got to see the most "loved" couple in action, Chuck and allegra. Now I'll be honest here, the scenes weren't that bad as they usually are. It's mostly about allegra comforting Chester when he is in distress especially up to the point where he thinks his father's ghost is haunting him(LOL).

But their romance still feels forced, so ig we just have to along with it for some time unfortunately.

The flash is kinda on the sidelines here, where he is zooming around trying to find the meta and trying to protect team flash. But it's fine, I mean Chester's storyline here was pretty good.

Overall good episode: 8.5/10. Can be rounded of to 9. Not much action, but storyline building is there which I guess does make up for it.

Theory : As to why this black flame attacked Chester, apart from the need to survive through feeding on grief and all, what if it's trying to break team flash down mentally one by one? Eric Wallace did say this villain was emotionally connected to team flash in an interview.

Next episode finds itself with frost doing something reckless to catch the black flame. What if the black flame tries to break Frost next episode? I think there is a huge possibility of that happening. And slowly it proceeds to break Barry in the later episodes which could prove to be intense as Barry has suffered a great deal of losses.

And the fact that we don't know who this villain exactly is, it makes this story more interesting. I do hope the upcoming episodes do become intense and make us feel that there is a lot at stake.

Finally
bennambiar18 October 2022
It seems like the writers have been taking note the fans comments and point of view.

Season 8 sees lesser scenes with Iris and Barry and Iris together. It looks like Barry and Iris having a separate life. In Ep 9 Iris just decide to go to Coast City, without even thinking of asking Barry. Thats surely a strong woman, who is extremely independent, who gets all angry when Barry does it.................. Well its just a fictional, and ofcoz can't expect reality but then sometimes its just makes you wonder, if the writers and writing certain scenes or subplots based on their personal experiences.

Solid episode

Warning: Spoilers
I liked the intense aspect this episode with a new unknown meta or the black flame and gives it a mysterious aspect sense we don't know what it is or where it comes from but find out how and why it kills which is a cool way how they introduced that with Chester and overall a good episode!!!!
