But wow that last scene was exactly what I have been hoping for. A good improvement from the last episode. I really hope they conclude uhteds character well and adjust Aethelstan for the movie.

It has been...an eventful episode.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't usually write reviews for single episodes, but this one was particularly interesting, if not baffling. For some reason at the dining scene at Bebbanburg, half the members eating at the Lord's table are black. This sudden demographic shift in early 10th century Northumbria is puzzling. Was this historically true? Is the BBC suddenly doing casting for the show? Did these guys win some fan contest? I don't know.

Thankfully, episode 8 makes up for this by giving us the most hilarious scene of the entire series of Aelswith breathlessly recounting, to Edward and his new queen, her heroic tale of escape by killing a man with her "bare hands" (well...she was not wearing gloves). This is the only time I've laughed out loud during the entire series. Well done! Aelswith really becomes surprisingly likable in these final seasons.

The Witch Is DEAD...Finally!

Warning: Spoilers
I have never been to ready to see a character die off a series as much as I was ready to Brida go. This death was WAY past due. The constant whining and complaining about events of her own making was so tiresome it would have been better to get rid of Brida when Ragnor died. It's obvious that all of her anger and frustration was tied up in fact that Ultred did not choose her.

Would've been a 9 if it wasn't for the last 15mins

Would've been a 9 if it wasn't for the last 15mins. Noticed this show has had a lot of disappointments since moving to Netflix. Still a great series but could've been better with s4 and s5.

Gearing up

Its almost time for the final battle royale of this tumultuous series and all of the pieces are falling into place. Well developed storyline though a bit of filler.

Martha Hillier strikes again!
alanhodovic20 August 2022
Martha Hillier has done it again folks, every episode she's written this season has been excruciatingly painful to watch, torpedoing the quality of the writing to the point that I can't recognize the show anymore. At times, it seems as if an elementary school kid wrote this, just unbelievably bad writing , for this show at least.

The acting and cinematography are the only saving graces here for me.

What's ridiculous ending scene
jacinta-c-curtis16 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The king's plan makes sense and the audacity of everyone in that scene was laughable.

This is just getting ridiculous to change a character so much in a mere few episodes. I know we are all supposed to align with Uhtred but it's just too much and to make a suite of characters presumptuous in there requests of a king is annoying and playing into the narrative too much for belief.

Where are the following dudes?
mondeo_iplay21 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Whoooo hoooo, I just saw Bridgestone with danes:) It's not correct, we need to see some Indians, some Asians, a women who claim some rights, and by the way, why nobody is gay??? It's frustrating coming from Netflix? Why not? We need to see some culture here, they can raise some babies when the warriors are not at home.

Maybe some footage with some lgbtq who erect schools and temples or churches and many other things.

What a waste...
