Iowa? Seriously?
fst-ew91932IB3 November 2021
OK, I was very bad growing up. I'll explain a little in a moment. Having an actor bro is the only way this got made. I grew up in San Diego, CA. During the 1980's and 90's operating as a (can't say that). Lets just say there was alot going on between organized Mexican's and the Hells Angels. $200,000 a week is nothing. And the section about kittens sounds made up. Nobody I associated with would have put up with that. Bet the writers put it to make drugs scarier for the kiddies. Can't really say much more. Her whole operation is cute in a sad sorta way.

Despite what she did and what happened...you can't help but like this woman. It reminded me so much of the people that were around me growing up. Despite flaws..and there were plenty, they do what they say and say what they mean. Unfortunately, the drug problem will never go away...but people with this persona will vanish.

Why would Tom Arnold or his sitter brag about something like this?
janettejaroscak31 May 2021
What a stupid show to make. People died on her hands and she seems proud of being the Queen of meth give me a break. If I were her or Tom Arnold go crawl under a rock.

Disgusting people glorified

It went from bad when it opened with them talking about torturing kittens to equally bad when they destroy people's lives. It does give you some idea why Tom Arnold is so creepy.

Very little to say beyond this. Hate to think that the " New Media" outlets are this desperate for "product"

Small City Deals
WordtwisterMN10 June 2021
I enjoyed the documentary. It was good for what it had to work with, the life of an actor's sister, drugs, and life in a small city. A lot of the negative written reviews seem to be what we often see on the Internet as the hive mentality. I can tell by some reviews, the people who wrote the reviews didn't watch the documentary. It was interesting to see how the leading city employer turned its back on the people. This is something that has been happening since the 80s, as I've watched American labor rights degenerate. There are a lot of lessons on what not to do in the documentary. Frankly that goes from drugs, to chain smoking, and over-eating. We keep hearing from one particular sect of society how bad life is in large cities. In this documentary, we get the full-effect of the downsides living in a small city with little opportunities and resources available to its people. The documentary also offers the lessons of the more you 'own', the more it costs to keep those things up. Lori thought she was taking the easy way out, when in fact it almost crushed her. I'm surprised she can even smile today. She is kind-hearted, but got caught up in the lure of what she thought was easy money. It was fast money, but not easy. I'm glad to see her and Tom are close once again. I wish all of them the best who were brave enough to openly speak about their experiences of those days.

Perfect Reason For Zero Ratings Option
What fresh hell is this supposed to be? This monster absolutely destroyed countless lives, carries no semblance of remorse whatsoever, and honestly, seems rather proud of herself.

Coupled with her insanely gross and disgusting pig of a brother (Tom) who I'm quite sure jumped at the chance to be in front of a camera again, and this is a hot mess from beginning to end.

On behalf of all Iowans, I'd like to state emphatically that, they IN NO WAY resemble the average Iowan- hard working, honest, loyal and law-abiding, and we're not willing to claim any of the people associated with this 'film' that comes off more as some cheap ID channel nonsense than anything remotely resembling an insightful, well-done documentary.

One episode was far more than I should have subjected myself to, and unless you feel the need to torture yourself, definitely avoid this like the bubonic plague.

STOP FEEDING THE ANIMALS AND TOM ARNOLD!! Maybe he'll just go away.

Interesting and well done
christiandurland10 July 2021
The low reviews are a little overboard. Nowhere during the 3 episodes do they glorify anything in terms of Lori Arnold and her story. This was by far a very interesting documentary, and just like all the other kingpins and queenpins in the history of drug dealing, Lori Arnold had a short run of making a ton of money, and then bust. Like the rest of the world, she was only doing the best she could with what she had. I'm in no way condoning drug dealing, but in the end, this documentary is in no way glorifying her life as a drug dealer. It's just flat out telling someone's story.

Shameful

Absolutely disgusting to glamorize the obliteration of lives and families lost to drugs. Tragic attempt on the network to cling to relevancy.

Queen of Death
davidallen-6820017 May 2021
Rename the show to call it was it is...the show depicts the sad and evil contribution to death and addiction, and family decay... nothing to reward.

This should be cancelled.

The least interesting story by even less interesting ppl
zlinstrom31 May 2021
Who on Earth was the audience that requested this docu-fable, besides perhaps the two stars?

Truly a bizarre, narcissistic blame-fest.

Even I have lived a more interesting life, seen all of this debauchery.

The drugs aren't the stars problem, it is way worse. Yawn.

Worth the Watch
katyreed16 May 2021
I'm from Ottumwa Iowa, and I think it is absolutely brilliant. How strong and brave Lori had been her whole life and then to own up to what she went through and had done. She did not get paid to do this and advertise success of ruining families and good times with drugs. Yes she had a exciting life that most times she enjoyed. But to go through the life she did falling through the cracks and coming out a "Queen", we can't judge if we hadn't been in her situation. My aunt is in this series and to hear her speak out and everyone else was great to see. Anyways I gave it a 10 because I enjoyed it and people it was the 70s-90s get your head out of the clouds!

Again, many reviewers here don't have a clue...
NullUnit5 May 2022
This series is not bad because the subject is illegal drug sales. Illegal drug dealers are really not much different than BigPharma... Pfeiser has killed more via overdose than ANY street dealer.

This series is bad because it's just downright boring and uninteresting. I would actually need Meth to stay awake during this series.

I could only make it through 2 episodes. It was simply shot and presented in the most droll, unexciting, uninteresting manner it could have been.

I was completely, utterly, unequivocally, bored throughout it.

There is no "intrigue", no "hidden story", nothing of real interest.

In fact, the ONLY reason this seems to have been made is due to the familial connection to Tom Arnold and Rosanne Barr. Otherwise, it's just another story of another 1980s drug dealer. Only MUCH, MUCH less interesting.

Superb Production
ggsmith-1249325 May 2021
Watched Queen of Meth - a documentary in 3 episodes - over last 3 days. Great production. Extremely well-made documentary. Full of invention and creative ideas. Very exciting and original stylistically. And Meth Queen Lori Arnold, the main subject, emerges as someone we actually care about. It's a surprising and unnerving feeling, since what she did was so obviously reprehensible. One of the show's strong points is in taking someone who led a criminal life, who was obviously a sociopath, and revealing the full, often deeply disturbing nature of the human being. Lori is not made into a villain -- nor is she an anti-hero a la Walter White of Breaking Bad. That she is likable in many ways makes the show quite complex. The documentary enlightens without judging, forcing the viewer to look deeper into Lori rather than simply defining her as good or evil. Particularly loved episode 3 as she and her son connect over the pain of the past and the love they obviously feel for each other. Quite moving. The whole show was extremely well put together and visually alive. I loved the textured overlays on the still photos. The motion graphic sequences/montages were great. The key word graphics were really well-designed and well used. B roll and what I presume was stock footage were quite well integrated, supporting the narrative without feeling imposed. Very interesting approach to the interviews - both camera placement and locations. The exchanges between the participants - Lori and her son, Josh... Lori and her brother, Tom Arnold-- were great. I recall a graveside sequence that was particularly well shot. I imagine the producers set up those sequences, but they got great material out of them. They feel very natural. Overall a genuinely superb achievement.

well, compared to the imdb rating...
ops-525358 May 2022
Its far better than what it says...

if you like kingpins and druglord stories, made over the same plank as cocain cowboys or the like, you will say yum yum to ''queen of meth''. Its a iowainian story about the girl who went from primary school princess to queenpin methamfetaminedealer in the proud state of ''I Only Want metAmphetamin'', a story told by herself mostly but also siblings and other methusers of the days of glory.

Its actually entertainment when youre offered 150 minutes of good old bragging and lying fishermen telling stories about the lost catch, sitting on the barstool, drunk as a flatfish on rockall, a female ''alive and kickin' '' story that only could be verifyed by the feds and the doormat, but the story of living like a scrambled egg coming outta nothing and ending up as the crankshaft of meth dealing in the uppermidwest usa is indeed worth your time and energy, better than injecting or snorting meth anyway.

Many have given this a 1 star condemnment, i guess in opposition to this kinda meddling over the drug topic. Well i understand their feelings and can see why, and know a little bit about the way drugs may harm not only primarily but also pretty collateral secondarily, the culprit of this show could have appeared a bit more humble and guilty at many occations, but that aint entertainment that people stream voulentarily, so if you feel uneasy by watching this iowan girls story then dont watch...

for the rest of us lot, with or without illegal drugs in the backpack, its the a-4 kinda documentary of modern day filmaking, its just that long that you may binge over a rainy afternoon, and just what the grumpy old man needed, after tri-padwackling(paddeling-walking and cyckling)in coastal southwest norway in the morning sushine.
