Lately, there have been many television shows that are set in the heartland of Rajasthan. After thoroughly exploring stories from the Hindi heartland, a lot of filmmakers have shifted their gaze towards Rajasthan that focus on the kind of illegal activities that are being carried out. Since the state shares a border with a powerful pesky neighboring country, in and out of contraband is bound to happen. Manorama Six Feet Under, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, Aarya, Dahaad, Gulaal, and Thar are crime dramas that explore the dark underbelly of the state. Meanwhile, Bandish Bandits and Mismatched showcase the vibrant and colorful side of Rajasthan, which the people are used to seeing. Shehar Lakhot is yet another addition to the neo-noir crime drama genre that explores the marble mafia in the state of Rajasthan and the politics that looms around it. Created by Navdeep Singh and Devika Bhagat, the show is a Prime Video Original,...

The recent trend in the Hindi film industry seems to be bringing out stories from gritty and arid Rajasthan. It looks like stories from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, and Bihar regions that focused on gangsters and the mafia are on their way out. We saw the colorful and vivacious Bandish Bandits from a few years ago. We had Thar last year; this year we already have Saas, Bahu aur Flamingo. Two out of the three films were based in the desert-covered state and were about the sort of nefarious activities that take place there, and with the state bordering the infamous neighboring country, there’s a wide selection to choose from that not many films have covered in the past. The dry aspect of the weather adds a layer to the stories, but overusing geography to talk about what exactly is happening in the state is what will lead to nothing narrative wise.

Mumbai, April 26 (Ians) Actor Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor has given a befitting reply to a Twitter user who called his upcoming film based on Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra “highly unrealistic”.
A social media user on Twitter wrote to the actor: “Why are you doing dramatised and highly unrealistic biopics, especially of a sports personality? They all follow a template which is so predictable. It’s mundane!”
To which, the actor said: “If you’ve seen any of my films then you’d know that the Bindra film won’t be like any Bollywood biopic that’s been done previously. His story doesn’t lend itself to a dramatised unrealistic piece quite the opposite actually.”
Varrdhan will be seen playing the titular role in the movie while his father and actor Anil Kapoor will play the role of Abhinav’s father.
When asked about his upcoming projects, he replied, saying: “Bindra biopic.

She said: “The special part about ‘Garmi’ is that this show not only talks about the fun and frolic side of hostel life, but also darker side of politics and how innocent lives get entangled in it, knowingly or unknowingly. Tigmanshu Dhulia sir is an institution and I feel, for every actor, it’s important to go through an experience of working with him. Actor Akshay Oberoi has opened up about playing a character with a blue-blooded upbringing besides sharing how he prepared for his role in the film ‘Gaslight’.
The actor said: “I love playing these characters, where it’s not clear who they are and as the film progresses, their personality comes out. In this film as well, the character is not meant to be played for laughs, but rather, there’s something about his lineage that he’s trying to chase.”

When Anil Kapoor was offered a lead role in the Hindi adaptation of UK drama series The Night Manager, his first thought was how he could apply what he’d learned while making the Indian version of U.S. crime drama 24.
Kapoor plays the role of an international arms dealer, played by Hugh Laurie in the original English-language series, based on the John le Carre novel, while Aditya Roy Kapur has been cast as the solider turned hotel night manager infiltrating his circle, played by Tom Hiddleston in the original show.
After being approached by Disney+ Hotstar content chief Gaurav Banerjee to play the role, he started watching the English series, which had been broadcast by BBC and AMC in 2016 and streamed by Amazon Prime Video in India. “I was impressed by the original, but we had some very strong writers and talent attached to the remake from an early stage,...

“Sometimes in a serious situation, you feel it is serious, but the way it has been written, the way the storytelling is, it’s very funny,” Kapoor told Variety. “It’s a situational comedy. It seems that the aesthetics of Western are having an impact in Hindi cinema nowadays, since after “Gangubai”, “Thar” also implements a similar approach, and even more intently one could say, particularly due to the story and the action here, which also moves towards noir, exploitation and thriller paths.
The story takes place in 1985 in the northern border of India, mostly in Munabao, a small town where Sureka Singh is the chief inspector. As the movie begins, a number of gunmen start shooting the place, while the tortured corpse of a man is found hanging from a tree. Sureka believes the instigators are either dacoit bandits or opium smugglers, since the area bordering Pakistan is infested with them. Along with his deputy, Bhur, he investigates but the case is proven more complicated than he initially thought. The appearance of Siddharth, a young and handsome man who is looking for some...

Thanks to Netflix, audiences around the world, who may not be too familiar with Bollywood production, are being gifted the opportunity to have their senses heightened, and step foot into a whole new world of movie-making. In my case, taking the Bollywood experience beyond the “mum’s blasting her favourite ornate over-the-top musical numbers about love on the living room TV again” stage.
Hollywood’s most prolific directors can argue all they want about streaming films not being “real” films, but there is one aspect to streaming that cannot be denied: increased access to international media. There is an underrated beauty in the ability of streaming services to help audiences experience different cultures through film – an experience we lack if we stick with what’s being shown in our big-chain Western cinema complexes.

After almost three absurdly long years, “Stranger Things” Season 4 is just around the corner. A tentpole series for Netflix — at a whopping production cost of reportedly 30 million per episode — the fan-favorite sci-fi show that launched its young adult cast, led by Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard, into superstardom will be dropping new episodes May 27.
And, according to the Emmy-winning series’ executive producer Shawn Levy, it’s going to be “harrowing,” “cinematic” and “epic.” He told TheWrap in a recent interview, “This is so much more story and runtime than ever before, not by a little. By a lot.”
The last month of spring will also see the return of reality series titles like “The Circle” — a social media-driven competition series where players catfish, befriend and flirt with each other with the aim of winning a grand cash prize — and “Bling Empire” — which centers on a group of uber-wealthy Asian American friends in Beverly Hills.

Godforsaken, because people are dying horribly tortured deaths and there is nothing our cop-hero can do about it.

A detective investigating a seemingly random murder in the rural Rajasthani desert turns out to be so much more in Raj Singh Chaudhary’s Thar. Nothing much happens in Munabao, a small town near the Pakistani border region of Rajasthan, but when a farmer is found hanged from a tree with all the telltale signs of a gangland hit, it piques the interest of local authorities. As the undisputed king of streaming (for now at least), Netflix has enjoyed the presence of some major blockbusters. Now, with its list of new releases for May 2022, Netflix is bringing back one of its biggest ever hits.
Stranger Things season 4 “volume one” is set to premiere on May 27. It’s been a long wait for new episodes of this ’80s-tinged sci-fi/horror series and based on the trailers, the wait will have been well worth it. In this go-around, the kids of Hawkins (now high schoolers) will have to contend with the Upside Down once again to go along with the horrors of the Creel House.
