Long on cast and concept but slightly short on execution, Michael Henry's Blame never quite manages to reach its full potential or really cash in on its premise, ultimately ending up as an interesting but minor footnote to the Australian wave of the past few years. Animal Kingdom, Van Diemen's Land or Last Ride this aint.
It begins strong, however. A man returns home from doing his shopping, striding through the door and realizing too late that things are not what they should be. Realizes too late that someone is lying in wait for him. Four someone's, actually, two men and two women and all of them dressed in oddly formal clothes but for the balaclava's pulled over their faces. They move in concert, cornering and trapping their prey, all of it without saying a word. And here we realize that they are interested only in killing him in...

Stellan Skarsgård and Robin Wright are in talks to join the cast of David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, based on the best-selling novel by late Swedish author Stieg Larsson and scheduled for December 21, 2011.
According to Deadline, Wright is negotiating to play Erika Berger, a magazine editor romantically tied to the film’s lead, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, to be played by Daniel Craig. The role is relatively small in the book, but Berger plays a more significant part in the other two novels of Larsson’s “Millennium Trilogy,” and Wright would return for both.
Skarsgård, a Swedish born actor, is honing in on the part of Martin Vanger, President of the family’s multi-generational company and a key suspect in the disappearance of young Harriet, reports Variety. You might recognize the talented Swede from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3, Good Will Hunting, and the underrated crime thriller Ronin.

Casting for the role of Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher‘s Us-adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is starring to narrow after a lengthy search, with further testing of six actresses said to have taken place over the past weekend (Deadline).
While testing has been carried out before now, this time the hopefuls reportedly read across from Daniel Craig, already cast in the lead male role as journalist Mikael Blomqvist, whilst in full make-up and wardrobe, which suggests the six who tested will be the final shortlist. No confirmation of who the six were has been revealed as yet, but they were thought to be out of these seven: Ellen Page (Inception), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Sarah Snook (Sleeping Beauty), Rooney Mara (The Social Network), Sophie Lowe (Blame) and Lea Seydoux (Robin Hood). Over the weekend, David Fincher will be testing “up to six” actresses to play Lisbeth Salander in Sony Pictures’ The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The actresses will wear test in full costume, make-up, hair, piercings and read their lines opposite Daniel Craig, who has already been cast in the role of Mikael Blomkvist.
Deadline are guessing it’ll be any six of these eight: Katie Jarvis (Fish Tank), Ellen Page (Inception), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Sophie Lowe (Blame), Rooney Mara (The Social Network), Sara Snook (Sleeping Beauty) and Lea Seydoux (Robin Hood).
The list of actresses is similar to one we posted not so long ago, with the addition of Katie Jarvis, and Ellen Page throwing herself back into the race, having submitted her own screen-test video to Fincher. Not all of the eight above will test this weekend, but it’s a step...

Exclusive: Is it an exaggeration to say not since Gone with the Wind has the actress casting search for a studio film captured such attention? The decision on who'll play Lisbeth Salander in Sony Pictures Entertainment's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo continues. Director David Fincher tested actresses this week and will hold another testing this Sunday. I've heard that Fincher will test as many as six actresses this time, and the stakes have been raised. Daniel Craig will read alongside the aspirants, and each of them will get the full hair, makeup, wardrobe, and piercings treatment, which wasn't done in the earlier tests. This should give Fincher a sense of who is the best match to play the rogue computer hacking genius -- one of the most complex roles to come along for a young actress in a very long time. Right now the actresses who are being...

Our sources confirm The Daily Beast’s report that director David Fincher has narrowed casting choices for the highly coveted role of Lisbeth Salander in the Hollywood adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo down to four relatively unknown leading ladies. None of the big-name candidates, such as Carey Mulligan or Ellen Page, have moved forward either by their own choice or Fincher’s. (One source tells EW that Fincher offered the meaty part opposite Daniel Craig to Natalie Portman but she turned it down. Calls to Portman’s reps were not returned.)

Daniel Craig is officially on board for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo based on the best-selling novel by Stieg Larsson and scheduled for December 21, 2011.
Craig will star as disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who is investigating the disappearance of a young woman with the help of a gothic bisexual computer hacker named Lisbeth Salander, who has yet to be cast.
The 42-year-old Brit has been circling the role since June, but only just closed the deal this week due to his busy schedule. There was a concern his position as James Bond and his shooting schedule on Cowboys & Aliens would conflict with future adaptations of Larsson’s “Millennium Trilogy,” but MGM and its properties are still stuck in a holding pattern and DreamWorks was able to accommodate his dueling commitments reports Deadline.

The trailer for Michael Henry’s debut film has recently hit the net, and it is ready to ‘Blame’ us for all of its complications. Even though the trailer really isn’t full of complications, it is very suspenseful and looks like a quality Australian thriller.
The movie, as you may have guessed by now, is entitled Blame and is about a ground of friends that try to murder a man out of cold vengeance for something he may or may not have done. For what, we don’t really know, but if you look at him he does come off as a possibly creepy guy with a bad past. The movie stars Damian de Montemas, Ashley Zukerman, Kestie Morassi, Sophie Lowe, Mark Leonard Winter, and Simon Stone.

Another film having its world premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival later this month is Blame, the debut feature of writer/director Michael Henry -- and based on this compelling trailer it's now at the top of my must-see list!
Here's the lowdown...
Seeking justice and revenge, five friends violently attack a man in his remote country house. Their plan: the perfect murder. Confident that their victim's death by his own hand will not be questioned, they overdose him on sleeping pills, but it all goes horribly wrong when their attempt fails and their victim fights for his life.
In the aftermath, questions are raised about the true nature of the events leading up to the botched attack. As lies and secrets are revealed, the dynamic of the once-tight group shifts as the friends begin to question each other's motives. As they move closer to the truth, the weight...
