Actor Walker Scobell, who is well known for his performance in the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, is rumored to be joining the MCU as Kidpool in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. However, fans have suggested that he would be better as Franklin Richards, the son of Reed and Sue Richards.

Apple TV+ is taking a shot at another sports-related comedy.
The streamer behind Ted Lasso has placed a series order for a show starring Owen Wilson as a former pro golfer who needs to get his life back in order. The Loki star will also be an executive producer of the untitled series, which comes from Apple Studios and creator Jason Keller (Ford v. Ferrari).
Wilson will play Pryce Cahill, whose golf career ended prematurely 20 years ago. After he gets fired from his job at a sporting goods store in Indiana and his wife leaves him, Pryce sees a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom as his way back.
The series seems to echo Ted Lasso in its sports-world setting and the possibility of a redemption arc for its main character. It will join a comedy roster at Apple TV+ that also includes Shrinking, Platonic, Loot and the upcoming Palm Royale.

As of publication, Michelle Williams is understood by many as one of the most gifted actors working today. She has two Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, has been nominated for a Tony Award, and boasts a whopping five Academy Award nominations. Her breakthrough performance in "Brokeback Mountain" in 2005 earned her first Oscar nomination, and she's been one of the most highly sought-after performers ever since. But "Brokeback Mountain" was not Williams' first role, nor was she some actor plucked from obscurity and tossed into prestige cinema. For six seasons, Williams starred as Jen Lindley on "Dawson's Creek," one of the most formative teen dramas in television history.
And yet when she nabbed the role of Alma Beers del Mar in "Brokeback Mountain," the general conversation wasn't fixated on her years as a television teen star, nor were people dismissing her casting due to previous appearances in teen films...

Rose Byrne jumped at the chance to voice Leatherhead in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” when producer-star Seth Rogen asked her to join the film. “It was ridiculous,” the “Physical” actor tells me. “Seth was like, ‘I want you to do just fully Aussie — just go for it!’
“I was like, ‘I’m going to do my best Eric Bana.’ This is an homage to Eric,” Byrne continues. “It was a group recording, and I’d never done that before for a voice job. Seth was there, and he had such high energy from beginning to end. There’s ‘Mayhem’ in the title, and it was like mayhem. Not in a bad way. It was fun mayhem.”
Byrne joked that her many collaborations with Rogen, which include the 2014 comedy “Neighbors” and Apple TV+’s “Platonic,” don’t have her husband, Bobby Cannavale, worried. “He’s our biggest cheerleader,” she says.

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies are developing a sequel to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” and planning a two-season series that will serve as a “bridge” between the films. The spinoff series, titled “Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” will appear on Paramount+.

It wasn’t their job, until they made it their job.
That’s the surprisingly innovative ethos behind Lionsgate’s Production Inclusion Coalition program, started by a group of physical and postproduction staffers during the early months of the pandemic. Pic includes a growing number of tangible action plans to widen and diversify the industry pipelines for both entry-level and experienced talent from historically excluded backgrounds and geographic regions outside Hollywood.
“Where we started was how we could change the visibility of everybody on set first, starting with our productions,” Jamie Clevenger, vice president of physical production for the motion picture group, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We wanted to start at the bottom with the PAs and grow careers but also get new names and faces in front of our team members on the department head level as well, so we tried to tackle it from the top and the bottom at the same time.

I don’t know if anything is more soothing than Owen Wilson smiling while sporting a mighty blonde afro. With light twinkling in his eyes, Wilson stares into the distance, surrounded by happy little trees for IFC Films‘ new Paint poster. It’s moments like this when I’m thankful Wilson is experiencing a resurgence in cinema. Between starring in Marvel’s Loki and Disney’s Haunted Mansion and becoming powered up for the underrated Secret Headquarters family film, Wilson is in a good place.
Paint stars Owen Wilson as Vermont’s #1 public television painter, Carl Nargle, for Brit McAdams’ latest project, and Bob Ross fans are salivating.
In Paint, Wilson’s Nargle is convinced he has it all: a signature perm, custom van, and fans hanging on his every stroke. Yup! Nargle is on top of the world until a younger, better artist steals everything (and everyone) Carl loves.

With its list of new releases for March 2023, Amazon Prime Video might be rolling out its most impressive monthly lineup yet.
We know that sounds like something straight out of a press release but in this case, it’s actually true! That’s certainly not the case with March 2023 though.

March is still winter, no matter which animal you ask, which means it’s still completely acceptable to cancel all plans and curl up under a blanket in front of the TV. Prime Video’s movie library updates throughout the month, with most of its new additions on March 1 — including the “Rocky” saga, multiple “Carrie” adaptations, “12 Angry Men,” and more.
For Prime users who love books and TV, March means the highly-anticipated premiere of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The eponymous Daisy (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne’s band (Sam Claflin) make a mean match, starting with a hit single and leading to what seems like endless fame and glory. But where there is success there is peril, and both the band’s rise and an electric connection with Daisy threaten Billy’s marriage and everyone’s personal lives. James Ponsoldt,...

Owen Wilson appears to be channeling his inner Bob Ross in the first trailer for IFC Films’ upcoming comedy Paint.
Director Brit McAdams’ film is set for release on April 7 and stars Wilson as Carl Nargle, the beloved host of a long-running instructional painting series on Vermont public television. Trouble arises when a younger painter played by Ciara Renée is hired to attract a different demographic, exacerbating Carl’s deep-seated insecurities about his own artistic talents.
“You’re entitled to your favorite TV show — that’s what makes this country great,” a frustrated Carl begrudgingly admits in the trailer just before he is seen hurling a can of paint at a wall.
The footage also shows Wilson’s character receiving plenty of attention from female supporters, including an awkward moment involving a fondue outing with one particularly devoted fan.
Paint’s cast includes Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Lusia Strus and Stephen Root.

By now, those of you reading this site have no need to be reminded of the greatness of Nickelodeon's animated "Avatar: The Last Airbender" series -- we've written as much in detail time and again, after all. The elemental story of Aang and his friends joining together to battle the evil of Fire Lord Ozai is the stuff of legend, having gained countless fans during its original airing on Nickelodeon and in the years since. Although that viewership is exactly the demographic most leery about any further adaptations of that story, especially in live-action, Netflix is nevertheless forging ahead with their own spin on the classic tale (even after the poorly-received news that the Netflix series had parted ways with the show's original creators over "creative direction").
But one way to win fans back is to further flesh out the already-impressive cast with even more big names and fan-favorites...

Is the show going to be over for Showtime?
Paramount Global is having “early” discussions about shutting down Showtime as a standalone service and migrating Showtime’s slate of premium content into its flagship streamer, Paramount+, according to a Wall Street Journal report, citing anonymous sources. Paramount has “broached the idea” of shuttering Showtime in talks with “at least one major pay-tv partner,” per the report.
According to company insiders, there are no imminent changes being contemplated for the Showtime brand. However, sources confirmed to Variety that the media conglomerate is floating the prospect of combining Paramount+ and Showtime as part of long-term discussions with distributors. Meanwhile, next week, SkyShowtime — a joint venture between Comcast and Paramount Global — is launching in the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, before expanding into the Netherlands in Q4.

To this point, few studios can boast that they have as tightly locked-down of a security system as Marvel does these days. Few, if any, have ever managed to spill sensitive information -- superhero movies are very serious business, folks -- and get away with it, unless your name happens to be Mark Ruffalo or Tom Holland, of course. For everyone else subject to the whims of the notorious Marvel snipers or those ever-vigilant DMCA watchdogs on social media, however, you're sorely out of luck.
That even applies to one of the most high-profile stars attached to any Marvel production over the years: Owen Wilson. Owen Wilson has revealed that he has been warned by Marvel “multiple times” to be cautious about spoilers when discussing the Disney+ series Loki.
Wilson, who plays Mobius M. Mobius on Loki, currently stars in Paramount+’s Secret Headquarters–another superhero venture. Owen Wilson as Jack in Secret Headquarters from Paramount Pictures. Photo credit: Hopper Stone/Paramount Pictures. While joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year with a regular role on the series Loki, now he’s got a superhero movie all his own that’s unrelated to the MCU. Secret Headquarters finds Wilson playing a family man who’s a crimefighter on the side, but then has to contend with his son discovering his dual life by stumbling into his — truth in titling alert! — secret headquarters. Wilson told us he was drawn to the film because it reminded him of the kind of movies he liked to watch when he was growing up. After more than a quarter-century as a movie star, Owen Wilson is finally suiting up to play a superhero in Secret Headquarters, the new Paramount Plus family flick directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. If those names sound familiar to you, it’s because they were behind such diverse and eccentric flicks as Paranormal Activity 3 & 4 (3 is by far the best movie in the franchise), the better-than-expected teen thriller Nerve, and the recent Netflix hit Project Power.
In this, Wilson plays a mild-mannered family man named Jake Kincaid who has a secret life. No, he’s not a killer or a bigamist – it’s all much more innocent than that. It turns out, he’s a legit superhero with a headquarters built under the family home. When villains attack and dad’s not home, his son and best pals must team up to defend the family fortress until...

While hanging out after school, Charlie and his friends discover the headquarters of the world’s most powerful superhero hidden beneath his home. When villains attack, they must team up to defend the headquarters and save the world.
Don’t you just miss seeing Owen Wilson in a silly movie? No? Just me? Well, I was extremely glad that I got to see him back in all of his glory in Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman‘s Secret Headquarters – an outrageously silly, highly implausible yet ridiculously charming, fun, and entertaining family film that will surely impress all the youngsters out there with enough good stuff to entertain the adults, as well.
First things first, if you absolutely hate Spy Kids or Sharkboy and Lavagirl,...

Secret Headquarters is a rare Superhero flick that isn’t based on a previous IP. It comes from an idea by writer Christopher Yost, who has penned MCU films and an episode of The Mandalorian. It is directed by the team Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.
Obviously, the adult stars of the movie are more recognizable, but Wilson’s character’s son and his friends will also reportedly have major parts in the movie. The children in this film are played by Walker Scobell, Keith L. Williams, Momona Tamada, Kezii Curtis and Abby James Witherspoon.

The archetypal portrayal of heroic fathers is one of good, upstanding men teaching the sons who look up to them fundamental life lessons. But writer-directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (“Catfish”) expand on this conceit in “Secret Headquarters,” their family-friendly feature for the Paramount+ streaming service. Centered on a teen who discovers his aloof, neglectful father is the world’s most formidable superhero, this action-adventure delivers a modicum of skill and smarts, though it ultimately winds up as forgettable as its generic title.
Fourteen-year-old Charlie (Walker Scobell) is used to his dad Jack (Owen Wilson) abandoning their plans for work. From baseball games to big school achievements, his father has missed out on every important event. Only Charlie doesn’t know his put-upon pop is busy saving the world, one disaster at a time. A decade prior, Jack unwittingly became a part of something extraordinary when a glowing space orb crash landed on Earth,...

Between the sprawling MCU, countless remakes and franchises, and even video game movies, it feels like Hollywood’s obsession with existing IP has sucked all the creative air out of the movie business. But original films like “Nope” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” have boasted strong box office numbers this year, igniting conversation and motivating moviegoers back into theaters. But with the highest-grossing films still overwhelmingly based on existing IP, it’s all the more refreshing when Hollywood takes a chance on an original story, especially when it comes to the usual slam dunk kids’ movies.
To that end, Starring Owen Wilson and directed by “Catfish” duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, “Secret Headquarters” feels perfectly calibrated to fly under the radar of Hollywood’s typical risk aversion.
Fast-paced and heartfelt, “Secret Headquarters” assumes its young audience has a basic cultural literacy without shoving in clumsy social media references...

In The Adam Project, a disposable Netflix feature probably watched by a squillion people earlier this year despite a plot so contorted it was basically a sleep aid, young actor Walker Scobell played a kid bruised by the inattention of a workaholic dad who then died, compounding the hurt. The boy’s perception shifted after a time-space wormhole brought him face to face with his grownup self, also shedding light on his father’s integrity. Scobell again plays a disgruntled son given a sci-fi shakeup in another empty-calorie adventure, Secret Headquarters, though it’s perhaps a small mercy this time that instead of Ryan Reynolds cracking wise we get the mellower Owen Wilson alternative.
Developed from a story by co-screenwriter and frequent Marvel hired hand Christopher Yost, the film was originally slated as a Paramount theatrical release before being bumped to Paramount+ on the same date.

In any series involving time travel, it often becomes a herculean task to actually explain the rules of time travel in that universe. In “Paper Girls,” that responsibility falls to Jason Mantzoukas, as The Grandfather — but he absolutely relished the duty.
In reality, Amazon Prime’s “Paper Girls” actually has a pretty clean way of explaining time travel, compared to other series. To explain it, the Grandfather uses a mixtape that Mac listens to on repeat. The normal timeline, that’s the original recording. But as the timeline gets written over with new “songs” — in this series, by the Stf — the “audio” that is recorded over gets fuzzy. Eventually, enough re-recording leads to complete disintegration of the tape (“the tape” being reality in this case).
The Grandfather merely explains the actual mechanics of it, rather than the “rules” time travelers must abide by. And where that task can be daunting for some actors,...
