Ralph is due for a promotion. A doctor shows up at the house but Ralph isn't there. He needs the big guy to pass a physical. Alice has to leave, leaving Norton in her place. Ralph thinks the doctor is from the insurance company and Alice is wasting money on insurance. So he pretends he's an alcoholic. The whole thing is just plain sad.
