Another good episode. Enough plot twists to raise the suspense level above the normal for the series, and a good injection of testosterone challenge between Alessandro and Sebastian. There is a subtle drawing of lines in police ethics, which can probably be seen today, even a hundred years later, in most forces. We have Mary Shaw breaching procedures to examine evidence logs to find the truth, we have Detective McIntosh planting evidence to support what he believes is the truth (alas, wrongly) and we have Detective Lyle who is as bent as a coin that's just been run over on the rail tracks. Of course, I feel that Shaw deserves promotion, McIntosh deserves some measure of sympathy, and Lyle deserves a quick exit, perhaps in a car crash or just disgrace and imprisonment. The tension in the Shaw/Lyle storyline was gently screwed up, I guess towards a resolution in the series finale.
