Indie Rock + Silver Lake = Hip Movie
mrmartinezthecat17 May 2012
I was looking for a movie about young musicians and stumbled upon this great independent flick via a recommendation by a fellow musician. Being a native to Los Angeles, I recognized a lot of the film locations they used in this movie, and not the obvious ones, (a la: The Capital Building, Mann's Chinese Theater and the odd costumed ones who hang in front...) which made it more personal to me. Especially all of the Silver Lake shots! This flick has a great soundtrack, touching moments and some comical funny business that you don't want to miss (Sam and Sammy?!?! Come on...When do THEY get their spin-off flick?!) I would recommend this sweet and funny movie to a whole span of people, young and old alike. And if you are a native to Southern California or a musician who has "made it" or trying to, it would be worth a viewing...even with your mom.

Takes me back...
allenmister6512 September 2012
I had a band in my late teen and twenties. (Still do, but more of a hobby these days) But...Dude, this film took me back! I miss those garage playing days and this movie totally made me look back and remember how good it all was! And just how bad we wanted to "make it". I loved the egg player. I mean, come on. An egg player?? There is some really funny stuff in here. The kids were great too and if they really wrote all that music, wow. Not bad little dudes. I highly recommend this to guys like me who had bands, loves music and also – a little trip down memory lane and a whole lot of laughs. In fact, it inspired me enough to dust off my guitar and head into the garage...
