Another strong episode as Mark gets used to prison life.

He has a new cellmate who puts him in touch with someone who can help regarding his being bullied.

A great hardened look into the lives of those in prison.

A cliff hanger end to the story.

Didn't think I'd like it

Desperate for something good to watch. Always liked Sean Bean. This is a really well-written show. Not too heavy on the violence and not too heavy on the swearing. Looking forward to seeing the next season.

Episode 1.2

While the first episode showed the dehumanising side of prison life.

The second episode sees both Mark and Eric under pressure.

Eric knows he has to make a deal to keep his son safe who has been badly injured. A moral compromise that he thought he would never make.

Mark knows he has to take on the prison bully. He has not fought in over 40 years.

I thought the reveal of the top guy within the prisoners was a bit of a surprise.

Also a surprise was the stories of redemption by the prisoners. Mark's new cellmate meets the parents of the man he killed.

Mark also wants to write a letter to the wife of the man he ran over. Tell her how sorry he is.

Both Sean Bean and Stephen Graham show more subtleties to their acting. Quiet fear, even terror. Both actors are better known to get over emotional at times.

Incredible.

Mark continues to be bullied by Johnny, and decides he needs to take action, Eric is coerced into helping deliver a package into The Prison.

One of the best dramas I have seen on TV for some time, the first episode was superb, this second was of the same incredible standard. It doesn't let up for a single moment, it is intense from beginning to end.

I think it's possible that the bulk of the violence was seen in episode one, this second one goes a little deeper with the characters. Every single one of them plays a part, and helps drive the story.

Stephen Graham and Sean Bean continue to amaze. The acting throughout is spellbinding.

Bravo BBC and Jimmy McGovern, this is amazing, 10/10.
