"Are U getting This" HELL NO
ChrisTreborn26 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This is the worst fan film I ever seen, dumber than those which usually pops up in Youtubes.

The Dark Knight Project (2008) supposed to be a a film set in the Chris Nolan universe and advertised as a Bridge between Batman Begins and it's sequel Dark Knight.

Using footage and sound scores from Original movies, plus incorporating camera footage of the original filming of the movie, this fan fiction set another record in fan films, in "HOW NOT TO DO FAN FILMS EVEN WITH GOOD MATERIALS"

Actually taken from a comics storyline, two young students searching for the truth behind the so called "urban myth Dark Knight". We got Heather and Mikey played by Allyssa O'Donnell and David Sanchez, who pathetically underplayed the characters as the curious teenagers.

We get irritated by hearing the girl's repeated catch phrase "are you getting this", and the dialogs are so badly written and dumbly delivered by all actors here. Yeah it's a fan film, but that doesn't mean we are watching some high school dramas.

Also the BRUCE WAYNE/DARK KNIGHT, doesn't look like a Bale version, and the actor who played him forgot to used the signature SILENT voice of the BATMAN. And I don't want to point out every bad thing in this Garbage.

Anything good was the Photography, the lighting, the color theme, the pattern which was striking similar to the ORIGINAL movie. Or is that copied from another fan film BATMAN DEADEND.

By comparing to the CULT CLASSIC BATMAN DEADEND, better miss this joke.

Fan fiction

Warning: Spoilers
We all love films, I too make short films, and know the rigors of making a film of this scope, so here is review...

Story- The most overlooked factor in a Fan film is probably its story, because the filmmaker gets caught up in putting their film in someone Else's world, the same is true for many of the Star Wars fan films as well as it film, the premise was certainly good, but the execution was a bit lacking.

Sets & Art Design -

Other than that, the idea to use fan footage of The Dark Knight inside the film was brilliant idea, as was the police cruiser with GCPD on it.

Acting-

this is were most of the film fails, the casting was okie, but the girl cannot act to save her life, the boy was fine, the girls annoying line "are you getting this" was overused and made me want to scream!

the thugs were good enough, as was batman, who like the detective he is started on the clues almost immediately... it helped that the real actor looks like a clooney bruce wayne's younger version.

Action-

Batman was decent, the suit was too shiny, but the fights and action were good for a fan film, but it would have been better if the makers had seen Batman-Begins DVD and how they used a new fight style and used some of those moves, I know how fragile the suit was, but the fight moves used in BB were actually less about movement than the ones used.

the police cruiser seemed to be going very fast and made the film feel authentic

Overall -

6/10

4 for the film's sets (real Chicago! ) and the police cruiser 2 for the fights and a semi decent batman

-3 for the horrible acting -1 for the badly done green screen

It's amazing how professional some fan films are these days!
planktonrules11 December 2008
Up until very recently, fans could never hope to produce a film about their favorite action hero where the quality standards would even approach the original. However, thanks to exceptional software (such as editing and rendering tools), cheaper and more easily available equipment and lots of spending money, I've seen a few films lately that have blown me away--surprising me with their quality and watchability. These are NOT films made by well-meaning geeks that only appeal to other obsessive fans of the series (like a few of the Star Wars fan films, for instance).

Two of the best of these films are Batman films. BATMAN: DEAD END is a great film that asks the important question "who would win if Batman took on Predator?" (I know you are all dying to know) and THE DARK KNIGHT PROJECT is a film that speculates about what might happen if film students went in search of Batman for a documentary film for their class. Both really excel with the special effects and the acting is pretty good. Sure, they are NOT indistinguishable from the original source material--but the gap is significantly tightened.

THE DARK KNIGHT PROJECT is a clever little film and I can't wait to see more from the talented team who made it.

Amazing Take on THE DARK KNIGHT
photographer_dude875 December 2008
This is a "Fan Film" but i put it on the list of all the Batman Films and its an amazing 13 plus minutes of story, action, great cinematography of the City of Chicago. The Story takes place between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" and it premiered online only days before "The Dark Knight hit theater's world wide and it was very amazingly made. The Batman was incredible, the action, the characters, and that creepy joker laugh... This film really looks a lot like Christopher Nolan's view and it looks like it was a deleted scene from the movie... this was incredible and its hard to believe that its a Fan Film... It is made by fans for fans, But I loved it and recommend it to any super-hero fan.
