Hysterical

Just watched the first episode and found it delightfully funny. Helena Bonham Carter was a great surprise. Casual delivery of the funny lines.

"38 times, you only need 5". You have to listen carefully. Kind of sad about the ending. But cute, none the less.

Absolutely loved it.

Greg Davies plays Wicky, a crime scene cleaner, who arrives at a house, and encounters a very strange woman.

If this is the quality we can expect for the rest of the series, then this is going to be six weeks of comedy joy.

I absolutely loved it, it had me in stitches, Davies as always is very, very funny, but throw in the absolute magic of Helena Bonham Carter, and a cracking script, it's a real winner.

Loved the song and toilet scene, that was a scream. The pie scene was also very funny.

A winner, 9/10.

The Widow

Warning: Spoilers
Funny, random, and original. All elements of a great comedy. I think it is already criminally underated. And what's more is how are people allowed to rate the show as a whole when only one episode has aired. In my opinion shows should be rated as an average of how you rated all the episodes within it. Nevermind though. I thought this was funny, some great laughs in there, interesting plot with some random moments thrown in.

This is amazing- but almost indescribable.

From the very first episode of The Detectorists-I loved it-but couldn't say why.

This new series, with the ever wonderful giant that is Greg Davies- is genius like that. He actually wrote it, too. Surreal, rather touching- and funny, but not in a joke-a-minute kind of way. Having watched the second episode tonight-I am completely hooked. Someone described it as a sitcom- it is anything but. It is engaging, funny in a unique way and thought provoking. If the rest of the series is as good- I hope there are more series in the offing.

The Widow

Adapted from a German comedy series.

The Cleaner in question is Paul "Wicky" Wickstead (Greg Davies) who cleans up once the police are done with the crime scene.

In the first episode a wife has stabbed her husband to death in a frenzied attack.

Wiky has to clean up blood and body parts from the kitchen in three hours as it's curry night in the evening.

Only for the widow (Helena Bonham Carter) to turn up in the house. She was not in fact apprehended by the police.

A slightly surreal and bizarre black comedy that mixes slapstick with pathos. The laughs were in short supply and bound to be given the nature of the series. Cleaning up crime scenes.

It relied on fantasy singing sequences and curious happenings. A school boy who turns out to be a grown up man.

It's comedy that should had been on BBC2 where it might have got a cult following.
