Terrible commentator on excellent series
juliethomson-1722121 August 2020
What an excellent series but marred by the voice of the commentator, he lets out a sharp breath almost a cough at the end of a comment which annoys me so much I haven't been able to watch the whole series, silly I know but when something annoys you so much it's difficult to not hear it...

Get it right

The ENGLISH voice over narrator continually pronounced nuclear as nucular! It's like nails on a blackboard.

Proper English

I like the show, however, when Tyler Irving (a Science Reporter) said "these ones" in a sentence about the craters in the Witch's Hole I could not believe my hearing. Really Tyler. It's "this one" or "these".

This is a great show! Narrator is also amazing. juliethomson-17221 R has a hearing issue

Loved the show and the content. Things like this are right up my alley, mummies, mystery etc. One thing that made me write was juliethomson-17221 R review. She makes no sense and obviously holds some kind of grudge. We went back to see what she meant. No weird sounds, just excellent narrating. Don't pay attention to imaginary issues, watch and enjoy the show. R

Very interesting series, except for the narrator's incredibly annoying voice!

I'm enjoying this series. It's something a bit different, plus I find ice endlessly fascinating! Some other reviewers seem to find the variety of possible theories given, annoying, but I don't mind this at all. It teaches you other facts about different cultures, geography, geology etc. The only thing that really annoys me, is the narrator's voice!

For the love of all that's holy. Get a new narrator.

Some of this subject matter is really interesting, but this format of getting 'experts' reading scripts with zero conviction is painful. I'm looking at you Abandoned Engineering.

It's so obvious that they're reading a script they read two minutes ago.

Nothing is as annoying as the voice over though. The exaggerated intonation is beyond annoying.

The stuff is interesting enough on its own, you don't need to deliver the voice over like a 1920s fairground huckster.

Please please please fire this ham and get someone with some delivery skills.

In conclusion.

Lose the faux experts and get another voice over.

Great show makes your imagination run wild with theories of how unexplained events could have happened and the mysteries of the world

Very interesting

I enjoyed this series. It's quite unique, I think.

The one thing that really grated on me, was the narrator's voice!

I've heard him before, on other series, and it almost drives me to turn the TV off!

Another brain dead show.
timingram-295652 October 2020
Just another show with mind numbing commentary. After they have proposed 10 different possible explanations that are all ludicrous. They leave you with one that makes even less common sense. They said earlier that all the skulls have a very similar fracture. They end the segment by saying all the bones just floated into the basin one by one over hundreds of years,,, all with similar head injuries. They better install some signs in the area, " beware of falling high velocity projectiles"

Had potential...
Truth_In_Review28 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The first episode focused on George Mallory who died on Everest but it's very clear that he died from a fall. Their show is overdone and drags it out as long as it can possibly do just like every other possible reality show out there. Very disappointed because it had potential.

Terrible Format

They present the stories as a guessing game of sorts and posit some ridiculous theories before actually explaining what the actual facts are. They should just present the stories forthright.and add additional context and background instead of chewing up time with nonsense. The content is interesting enough but the presentation is awful.

Exaggerated Nonsense
martyngbowers27 December 2021
Stories which could be told so much better with more believable experts. They all sound like actors. The narrator is also quite annoying as there is no need for his voice to be so dramatic - the stories are interesting enough.

Interesting but...
lizzyispink12 December 2021
They waste time going over several conclusions that are completely off the wall, only to finish with a theory which the viewer figured out within the first few minutes. The narrator and also the so-called experts continually pronounce the word Arctic as artic. The narration in each episode also contains an absurd amount of grammatical errors. Watch on mute and create your own conclusions.,

"experts" read lines blankly while Jeff Teravainen over-exaggerates every word
stuthorr16 May 2022
I mean... The foundation of the content is interesting stuff. I can't knock it, but the cuts to the experts are just ridiculous. So blank and lacking any enthusiasm for the subject. It's so obvious they're just reading from a script to the side of the camera, it detracts from the quality of the program.

Somebody needs to stop hurting Jeff for these narration roles too. He just isn't appealing or pleasant to listen to.

Sorry, Jeff.

Two major errors already in 30 mins. Virus shown propagating like bacteria and pictures of the North Sea covered in pack ice.
