Regressive and downright deplorable comic elements aside, I feel, Anand L. Rai's 'Raksha Bandhan' not only did enough to encourage women's independence but also takes a firm stand against the disgraceful dowry system that still exists in the alleys of Semi-Urban/Rural India.
Even though those same notions do not seem to realize their true, underneath potency, the most highlighting points of the movie are still very much the emotional segments that duly provide whenever required. Whilst the drama may come off as overly dramatic at times, the heart & soul of the movie stayed unscathed throughout.
If only they had invested a little bit more time into the writing, the execution, as a whole, would have fared much better.
