Too much time talking about and wishing Mel happy birthday, too many repetitive Jack & Mel embracing scenes in same vapid pose over and over. No conflict or plot advancement until the last few minutes. Disappointing, Bor.......ing!!

Extra cheesy

Disappointed because although the past seasons have been a little cheesy, they were still wholesome and had good acting. This episode though....is just cringey. Also no deeper dive into jack's injury? And the fire scene... they smell something burning in the tub and once they run out 2 seconds later the whole house is engulfed in flames? Awful editing/ producing. I also love Colin Lawrence's character, but man oh man the acting in this episode is just so.. awkward? Hopefully it's bad writing because i think he's great. Hoping this season picks up because I was so excited for it!
What?

We both looked at each other and said, "is this the same show?" Maybe different writers and directors? Flat, disjointed, uneventful. An episode that need not exist. The 7.7 rating average must include all family and crew so far as the episode does not warrant the many tens for the average to be this high . . . Here's hoping it's an abberation and not what the rest of the season holds.
Did we miss an episode...?

Lazy writing means that the cliffhanger from the end of season 2 is all neatly dealt with in the first 60 seconds without explanation, emotion or drama. A new character is dropped in as if we're supposed to know who she is and one main character is missing with a tenuous side-story as an explanation.
Huge events dealt with lazily, small storylines repeated again and again. No chemistry between the two teenage lovers. Not impressed so far. What a shame...

After the cliffhanger ending of season 2 I expected more. But jack being shot and fighting for his life took a few minutes and after that I kept asking myself is he 'dreaming this' while laying in the hospital or is this the 'real' story continuing a few weeks later.
Boring.

What the heck?
I literally stopped the episode and went back cause I thought I missed something.
Did Covid mess up the shooting schedule?
Did someone accidentally loose 2-3 scenes between Jack in the hospital and the party????
Missed an opportunity for a good first season 3 episode.
Turning off and going to bed. Boring.

Pointless episode

There is absolutely not point to this episode. You skip this and not actually miss anything. The cliff hanger from series 2 is not explored in any meaningful way. The birthday theme is completely boring. Honestly so disappointed and if this is the quality of the series then I won't be watching it for much longer.
holy moly... talk about big gaps

So many unanswered questions

Season 2 ends with many cliffhangers. Season 3 begins with almost nothing rresolved: is Preacher still going to SF? If the authorities know all about Calvin's operations why aren't they all in jail? How is the lumber mill still operating? Why isn't Ricky joining the Marines like he planned? How did jack buy the house and move in in the 3 weeks since he's been shot? Why doesn't anyone ask questions about Preacher taking care of Paige's kid?
And once the identical twin brother showed up, I threw up my hands; that's some lazy writing there.
