Ah, it's been a while since I've written about Glamour Magazine's "Reel Moments" series. Every year, the magazine grabs famous Hollywood women, and gets them to direct short films based on stories submitted by Glamour's readers. They're small, simple affairs that not only outline real stories, but also send out a great message to women about jumping behind the camera. Jennifer Aniston once directed Robin Wright and Kris Kristofferson in a solid hospital drama called Room 10 (watch it after the jump). Demi Moore took the other side of the drama spectrum a year later and got silly with daughter Rumer for Streak.
This year, it's a new crop of new filmmakers -- Rachel Weisz, Eva Mendes, and Jessica Biel.

The Birthday Boys and Girls of 11/11
1821 Fyodor Dostoevsky, legendary Russian author of Crime and Punishment and The Brothers Karamazov fame. So many movies inspired by his work. But he's not the legendary Russian author that'll be getting all the press this next couple of months. That'd be Leo Tolstoy, soon to be chattered about when The Last Station emerges as an Oscar contender.
1887 Roland Young, popular 30s and 40s character actor (Topper, The Philadelphia Story, Ruggles of Red Gap)
1898 René Clair, (pictured left), wonderful French writer/director. If you've never seen Le Million I urge you to rent it maintenant. His Oscar nominated films include The Gates of Paris (1957) and À nous la liberté (1931)
1899 Pat O'Brien --Ewwww, not that one people -- the actor! whose film career stretches alllllll the way from the 1931 classic The Front Page to 1981's Ragtime.
1901 Sam Spiegel, powerful producer. Boy was he on fire in...

“Everybody’s curious,” says Rumer Wills, actress in this Friday’s Sorority Row, when talking about her family. Though she may be the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, the focus may soon rest solely on her, as the 21-year-old thespian is slowly making a name that is all her own. She made her onscreen debut in 1995 in her mother’s film Now and Then, but really felt the spotlight in 2008’s The House Bunny, where she played a lovable member of a defunct sorority.
Her newest film is Sorority Row, a slasher flick led by a bunch of women who span from Step Up 2: The Street’s Briana Evigan to Dragonball Evolution’s Jamie Chung, to Ms. Willis herself.
I sat down with Rumer Willis that included discussions about the working with Carrie Fisher, screaming, the strikes and gutters of the audition process, and yes, even what...

Demi Moore recovered from her plane drama in time to appear at the opening night of the Hollyshorts festival on Thursday night in La. She was there to support her short piece Streak, which also brought out some of her A-list pals at a screening last year. Kirsten Dunst was on hand to present her Welcome, after actually premiering it nearly two years ago. She took another break from acting to make a documentary, though she'll be back as a leading lady when she starts work on Spider-Man 4. View 10 Photos › To see more Demi and Kirsten, just read more. San Diego Comic-Con is on and in full force! So, as the tumbleweeds blow across the City of Angels, The 13th Annual La Shorts Film Festival began Thursday night with...a little bit less than a bang. Some prominent Hollywood women, however, are showcasing their talents with world premieres of their directorial debuts: These Vagabond Shoes stars a-now-completely-broke-thanks-to-Bernie-Madoff Kevin Bacon and is directed by Scarlett Johansson. The Spleenectomy stars Anna Faris, and leaves a scar as the first film directed by Kirsten Smith. Smith is a Hollywood screenwriter and producer whose credits include 10 Things I Hate About You, Legally Blonde, The House Bunny, summer's newest rom-com, The Ugly Truth. The Monday Before Thanksgiving stars Laura Dern and Courteney Cox. This short is Cox's directorial debut, not including David Arquette's wardrobe. If I were to place my bets, I'd say that 1) the film is set in the spring, and 2) because Laura Dern is in it, it...

We haven't done a fashion lineup in a while, so here goes...some ladies walking the flashbulb-lined red this past week.
Even though Rumer Willis (who turns 21 this summer) is not what you'd call traditionally beautiful I admire that her public persona often screams "I'm hot shit!" I think you have to respect that. Martha Plimpton is hot shit on Broadway (where she's currently enjoying her 3rd consecutive Tony nomination) if nowhere else. But isn't Broadway enough? She seemed to give up on her dwindling movie career just as the new decade began. It pisses me off that most people only think Goonies! when they see her because, helloooo, she was so good in other 80s gems like Shy People, Mosquito Coast and Running on Empty back in her River Phoenix days. And though I barely recall it I seem to remember that she was hilarious in 200 Cigarettes (1999). Does anyone remember that holiday comedy?...

The 26th Annual Miami International Film Festival (Miff) has selected seven films, including Demi Moore directed "Streak," from the United States to compete in their shorts program this March. A total of nineteen highly regarded films with women-centric story lines, are selected from all over the world.
"Streak," about a college senior struggling with self-acceptance, is directed by Demi Moore and stars Brittany Snow, Madeline Zima and Demi's daughter, Rumer Willis. The film is inspired by a true story that was submitted to Glamour Magazine's Reel Moments contest.
After generating interest at Cannes, Venice and The Hamptons, the Natalie Portman's directorial debut, "Eve," is another high-profile short selected by Miff. The film stars Lauren Bacall, Ben Gazzara and Olivia Thirlby in a story that revolves around a girl who accidentally intrudes on her grandmother's romantic date.

For a while now, Glamour has been pulling various actresses into the directorial fold with their Reel Moments series. Last year brought the likes of Kirsten Dunst and Jennifer Aniston, and this year, Demi Moore. Now Demi's short is online, along with shorts from Courteney Cox and Kirsten Smith (writer of films like Legally Blonde and The House Bunny).
This has been a pretty kickass project, one that will hopefully get more women behind the camera and making names for themselves. As for the latest bash of shorts -- one is uplifting, one is plain wacky, and the last is a good kick in the shins to the overly weight-conscious. Check them out here for yourself, and keep reading for a rundown of the latest three.

Courteney Cox and Demi Moore's friends and family came out to support their directorial debuts last night at the Director's Guild of America headquarters in La. Courteney's The Monday Before Thanksgiving and Demi's Streak are two of three short films, which you can watch here, produced for Glamour's Annual Reel Moments event. Courteney said she would love to be a director again, while Demi was happy to work with her daughter, Rumer. Amid more rumors of recent romantic dinners with John Mayer, Reel Moment alum Jennifer Aniston smiled and posed with her best friend. Ashton and Tallulah cheered on Demi as just two of the scores of loved ones and A-Listers who came out to celebrate the project along with the new directors. To see more photos from the event and the afterparty at Chateau Marmont, including Isla Fisher, Jared Leto, James Van Der Beek, Brittany Snow, David Arquette and others just read more.
