- The stoning of Soraya is filled with explicit graphic violence and bloody images, including blood dripping all over her face and white clothes, broken bones, and very breifly you can see a chunk of her head being taken off by a stone.
- Brief glimpses of a woman's brutally bruised chest
- Chock full of violence, though it is very realistic violence in such situations.
- A woman is verbally and physically abused by her husband multiple times.
Profanity

- Terms like "whore," shit," and "bitch" are uttered, though they are spoken in Persian, and subtitled in English, plus one use of the c- word.

- The violence doesn't kick in until about the last 40 minutes of the movie. Although it is one scene, it is very graphic, bloody, disturbing, and brutal.
- The stoning scene is by far the most bloody and disturbing depiction of execution to date.
