As far as artists go, Jeff Asper is a pretty unique one. So unique, in fact, that he was kicked out of traditional art classes in school, for putting too much of his own spin on the assignments he was given. Though that kind of creativity didn't fly in school, it's certainly working for Jeff nowadays, and his true artistic passion lies in turning found objects, a.k.a. 'junk,' into truly one-of-a-kind pieces of art.
One of Jeff's most impressive creations is no doubt his tribute to Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, which was welded together out of found objects. Though a beautiful piece on its own, which includes a handful of birds, a human skull and a spider web, the sculpture really comes to life when Jeff puts it in the proper position and shines a line towards it, revealing the truly masterful thing about this incredible work of art.

The horror “scene” in Massachusetts feels pretty desolate these days, especially in the winter season when the real horror is finding used condoms underneath the piles of black snow. Occasionally we get recognized when Rock & Shock comes to Worcester in the fall, and there are of course the monthly screenings in Somerville thanks to Chris Hallock and Mike Snoonian of All Things Horror. But how can we get Boston more involved with the horror scene? Creator of the Stiletto Film Fest, Megan Sacco (aka Lady Haunter) may have a few answers.
On February 27th the Stiletto Film Fest made its debut in Clinton Massachusetts. A horror film festival that featured short and feature length films done by women—a perfect way to seal the end of Women in Horror Month. Sacco who crossed over to the horror world after being in the Haunt industry for 15 years, decided that Massachusetts needed...

"A Mother who will do anything to keep her daughter beautiful."
Mother's Blood
Starring: Kitsie Duncan, Marv Blauvelt (Slices of Life), Deneen Melody (Vivid, Cut) and Alan Rowe Kelly (Sculpture).
"Mother's Blood" can best be described as a modern "dark, twisted, fairy-tale".
"When attractive socialite Vivian (Kitsie Duncan) is involved in a horrible accident that destroys her beauty, she seeks to restore it by making a "deal" with a mysterious gypsy (Alan Rowe Kelly) who warns her that by gaining her beauty and losing her deformity, someone close to her must lose theirs....much to her horror that "someone" happens to be her daughter (Deneen Melody). After years of locking her daughter away, much too ashamed for the world to see her, Vivian is once again visited by the mysterious gypsy who offers a grisly "solution" to restore her daughter's beauty as well....a solution that includes murder, mutiliation and...

This past weekend I was introduced to several films one of which is Come. Come is a brilliantly dark short film from the mind of Arthur Cullipher and the team at Clockwerk Pictures. The short follows along the same paths as Lovecraft and Cronenberg have taken but makes it's own unique mark and has it's own original style.
The lead role of Dr. Conduit is played by Marv Blauvelt (Sculpture, Slices of Life) who to me finds himself searching for a new kind of forbidden fetish-high and then throw in some exotica-torture porn maybe? The creators of Sculpture bring us Hypochondriac, a short horror comedy to be included in the upcoming horror anthology Psycho Street. Hypochondriac stars Marv Blauvelt (Beef, Sculpture, The Green Monster, etc.) as Dr. Oliver Combs, a big city doctor who has moved from La to a small town called Kronanburg (Lol!) to practice medicine at a small clinic. Hoping his start at the clinic will be a major departure from the crazy environment of the big city, he soon finds that not everyone who works and comes to the clinic is as normal as he hoped.

Fango got word of a new horror anthology project combining the talents of a number of independent East Coast horror filmmakers and actors. Titled Psycho Street, it’s a collaboration between Dark Ryder Filmworks and Rainey Daze Productions, along with a trio of other indie production companies.
Rainey Daze’s Raine Brown (first photo) will appear in all four segments, with the scripts written by Marv Blauvelt (second photo) and Trevor Wright of the upcoming Sculpture. That movie’s director, Pete Jacelone, takes the helm of the “Hypochondriac” story, co-produced by his THR Productions, about a small-town doctor and nurse (Blauvelt and Brown) who encounter a woman (The Blood Shed’s Alan Rowe Kelly) obsessed with surgery—performed on herself. Susan Adrienson, Zoe Daelman Chlanda, Jeremy Mulkey, David Gilke, Carl Burrows and Edward X. Young also star. Kelly himself directs “No Rest for the Wicked,” about a young, frustrated single...

“The Green Monster is my first solo screenwriting feature, following my co-writing work on Pete Jacelone’s Sculpture,” Wright tells us. “It originally began as a short film.
