A Pretty Solid Finale
bpete33329 June 2023
What were people expecting? They start the second season with the build up to Covid so of course they're going to end with the climax of it. I thought it was quite compelling and interesting the way they depicted the panic most of us felt when Covid started. I think Jennifer Anniston did a great job here. Her character is very hard to like but she squeezes every ounce of sympathy for someone who is hard to like at times. Didn't find any of this episode boring. Was is more of a premiere of what's to come more than a "finale"? Maybe. The episode before did most of the wrapping up of the season where this episode was more of a moving forward one. But this is hardly the first show to this. Game of Thrones did this constantly. Is this show perfect? No. It's sloppy at times and doesn't know if it wants to be a true ensemble or just focus on it's leads (Anniston/Witherspoon). It often wastes it's (mostly) likeable side/supporting characters or gives them side stories that either don't get enough focus or are barely resolved like Yanko, who I really like. But the cast is solid and the show does a great job of making me want to see what happens next.

Unfulfilled.
slak96u19 November 2021
How was this a season finale? It was a finale filled with nothing but summing up B plots, and the whole Alex storyline in this episode was so bad it was cringe worthy. Most shows struggle with the second season, nearly all of them, and TMS has as well. PRODUCERS MOVE THE PLOT FORWARD!!! Don't do a Lost and stretch out plotlines to extend the show. Filler, that's what this episode felt like. That in and of its self isn't the most disappointing thing, that would be that they chose to end a season with a filler episode. It's almost a cliffhanger, except not a lot actually happened in the episode.

Complete swing and miss for me.

Good finish

Warning: Spoilers
Overall, this season was not as strong as s1 imo. The second half of the season got stronger as it went along though. I thought it was interesting to explore the beginnings of Covid - our naivety, our early misconceptions, the confusion, the optimism, the fear.

Alex Levy should have done her stream in a nice, comfy sweater and less hair/makeup. THAT would have made her relatable, so that was an odd choice. Alex was ALL OVER THE PLACE in this season emotionally, but Aniston makes her entertaining to watch even if you don't always like her.

Stella is awesome in this episode. All season, she's been my least favorite character. So grating and no fun to watch at all. This episode, her abrasiveness was tempered with humor and she had some great LOL lines. The sudden shift in the writing/directing/acting for her had me wonder if the show suddenly realized that audiences weren't responding well to her and so they took a turn for the better. Because THIS is an entertaining character I can get behind. Let's go with Stella 2.0!

Daniel is annoying and so one-dimensional and whiny. I'd be fine if he didn't return for s3 but given the fact that this show follows real world events I think he'll have a good chance of being an even larger character in s3.

Bradley started out so entitled and hard to watch and she came around to a much better place. Corey's confession to her was a great scene.

Pretty good finish overall.

I dont understand the hateful reviews!
anthieee26 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Really enjoyed the series. I mean really! I was mesmerized by Steve Carrell's performance on season 2 especially in the episode La vita amara. I hate today's "cancel culture" and thought that every person has a right to redemption. So to recap: Loved:
  • Alex, Mitch, Bradley and of course Cory! Their performance was stellar!

  • The italian touch with the exception of the american tourist that bullied Mitch- what a ridiculous act!

  • The dimensional edge on each of the lead characters and how they grow through their journey

Hated: -The Side stories of: nagging Daniel, Mia-new boss from hell- totally unlikeable, clown-makeup weather man, Stella -ugh! Unbearable to watch and finally Laura.

  • The opening titles: probably the worst design and most annoying opening titles AND song, I have ever watched in a series. Please change them. I skip them but still hate them.

Perhaps the worst finale I ever seen
BruceWayne330 November 2021
The Bradley story line of her looking for her brother was a waste of my time No one cares about him

They really went in on the covid thing I get it I'm just so sick of hearing about it

The story lines in this episode just were flat, besides the fiery Italian lady, but even her situation was kind of handled weirdly.

Cancel culture
critic-97-41765720 November 2021
It surprises me when people say they don't know what this season is about. It's main focus was cancel culture. It took place in the context of the pandemic but cancel culture was the story.

It dares to ask the question, "Is there room nowadays to allow for growth and redemption?" Are people either good or evil or are there shades of grey? And who are these people making forever judgements on others in whose shoes they've never walked?

It asked important questions and attempted to open people's eyes to the fact that humans are all flawed. So, what happens when we're all cancelled?

I love this show, but...
stan_c20 November 2021
Never considered watching this until I read articles about, well, something big happening in S2 E7. Then I binged all S1 right up to S2 E7 so I could see for myself.

I'm really impressed with this show. Never saw Jennifer Aniston before. I heard of her and was impressed but never watched Friends. Probably was on when I was in the Psych Ward.

Well, happy to say Jennifer Aniston is awesome. Reese Witherspoon too! And Steve Carell is great too. The rest of the cast is superb.

But the season finale was kind of a whimper especially given what's come before. Not bad, just was hoping for a bit of a cliffhanger.

But I'm ready for S3 RIGHT NOW! And I usually don't get excited about shows.

Got to say some great performances lately with J. Aniston, R. Witherspoon, Kate Winslet and Nicole Kidman to name a few.

Why all these bad reviews
naseq-4555721 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It was amazing episode, Cory confessing to Bradley, that's a moment i waited for since season 1, Cory is so charismatic so handsome, and i love the chemistry between him and Bradley since the first season when he discovered her and their first meeting, there was heat between the two of them . People who are complaining that there was too much COVID in the episode, well , that's normal, what happened that days was really BIG, what the world lived in that days something deserves to be talked about and to be documented, it is history people and we must save history. People after 20 years must known exactly what happened if they are kids now or maybe still not born yet . It's reality too, these kinds of shows must keep up the reality factor, reality is the asset of this show and how can we feel the reality if they just ignored COVID.

Finally i really feel disappointed with people say do not make a third season. If someone doesn't want to watch more of this show that's up to them, but i am sure there are people also love to see more of this, especially that the finale founded a strong base to go in season three, Cory and Bradley, Paola joining the team with Alex and Bradley. So please let us enjoy this.

Meh - Disappointing

Cory: It should have been Alex. 😳 That's it. That's the review. Really. Do better. Cory/Bradley = 0 chemistry. What a let down!

Totally unbelievable.

I really wanted to enjoy the finale...
jp-20620 November 2021
I really wanted to enjoy the finale but I checked my email, my watch, and Twitter while watching it because it was so uneven.

I don't know why the writers felt the need to embroil the audience back into the beginning of the pandemic. Perhaps they thought it would be relevant 18 months later but it was depressing and something I did not want to live over again. Bad planning, bad writing, and bad timing.

There were a lot of useless moments and the storyline was all over the place. I was bored. It was just uneven. Alex and Bradley are not really relatable, Cory jumped the shark, who knows why Stella is even there, and I don't even remember the rest of it.

Disappointing. I wanted to enjoy it. I really did. I did not.

Making the pandemic entertaining
julieshotmail22 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"The Morning Show" has quite devolved from its noteworthy beginnings in the early season 1 episodes. Here in season 2, we have a hodgepodge of mini-subplots: sex predators; drug-addicted brother; scandalous book; lesbian affair; extramarital affair; multiple betrayals; cancel culture; racial issues spanning black, Asian, Native American, Cuban; white male privilege; suicide; giant lawsuit; new streaming service launch; fatal car accident; aspiring documentarian; unrequited love. The show is all over the place. There is a lot going on, yet the majority of these subplots do not come off very interesting, and are all happening with a backdrop that's leading up to the explosion of the pandemic, which is this episode's focus. I still give high marks because the acting here is first class, especially from Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, and that biting speech from Martin Short. Also, the show does manage to make the early onset of the pandemic quite entertaining to watch. No other fictional show so far has given the non-fictional pandemic this kind of play-by-play portrayal, and with a TV series titled "The Morning Show," you expect nothing short of sensationalism, and in that regard, it delivers.

Way too much Alex in the finale. It wasn't all bad but I feel like all of her ranting blog scenes could have been consolidated into a much shorter thing to give other characters a spotlight.

Horrible finale to a horrible season
MadMan_8919 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Literally nothing of consequence happened during this finale. I'm not sure why Bradley's brother was such a big storyline this season. Chip risking contracting COVID by visiting Alex was just plain stupid. Seems like the writers are setting this up for a potential love story. This show has jumped the shark. Steve Carrell should feel lucky to have left this mess.

Flat Season Finale
tjeffsmith-1593321 November 2021
I want to begin with saying I love this series and the way they approach the many issues. I think the cast is perfect. Steve Carell is really excellent. Anyway. This feels like the textbook example of anticlimactic and flat. I am glad they tied up some of the plot lines. I hate that Mitch Kessler won't be around if there is a 3rd season. But they couldn't go on hating him as a story line, and they certainly couldn't allow any forgiveness. That would undermine the cancel culture. 😞

... they couldn't know when filming how little too many now don't care
bjarias24 November 2021
... this 2nd season finale wasn't a complete bust ... but it wasn't worth high marks-praise either ... come to think of it looking back on this entire season's series of episodes none were all that memorable ... especially this final one ... going for high drama when now nobody in the country other than those really-actually-sick.. care-GAS.

Ready for season 3...
h22234 January 2022
Halfway through this season things felt a little shaky, but I'm excited about where they took it. Great storytelling, acting, directing, all of it. I mean, REALLY well done. You feel like you're right in it with these characters in all of their messiness, striving, winning and losing.

One of the things I'm loving about this show is how multi-dimensional the characters are. Just like real people (at least *interesting* people), they grow and change and surprise us over time. None of them acts predictably -- they are all evolving as the stories unfold.

For those who didn't think Bradley's brother was a character anyone cares about (*hand raised*)... I care about him! I was incredibly moved by that storyline. Maybe you have to come from a dysfunctional family to relate. Also, that storyline is being used to explore Bradley's own personal evolution, as well as her relationships with both Laura and Corey.

Anyway, I love, love, LOVE this show and can't wait to see its next evolution!

Awful writing
jbt197219 November 2021
Loved season 1 and was so disappointed in season 2 until the last 3 episodes.

It falters and is all over the place. The writing is awful.

Characters are picked up and dropped with storylines disappearing.

Such a shame as the talented cast have been let down by the creator and writers.

Awful Finale for a Up and Down Season
jackp24619 November 2021
Just a terrible episode all around. Various characters acting completely out of character, plot lines not getting resolved, and an extremely anticlimactic ending.

This "finale" seemed more like a season premiere rather than an actual finale. As a whole, this season was definitely a big step down from season 1.

I get why the bad reviews. But...
maalejandraescobar5 December 2021
This episode takes people back to a place they dont want to remember. I get it. But the acting was great and i was actually waiting to reach the point of the beginning of the pandemic. So to me it was so well made the makes people uncomfortable. I think thats the point. And to be honest, good. Be f... Uncomfortable. I liked it. And years of watching hundreds of tv shows taught me, i dont let anyone tell me what to like. So to whoever is reading this. Do the same. You love it. That's it.

Final nail in the coffin...
mooveephantom20 November 2021
...to this awful second run. This final episode, along with many many others things in this season, just do not make any sense. Everything from the writing, character development, behaviors, decisions, dialogue, motivations, the final scene, etc, all scream ridiculous and incredibly unbelievable. Both Alex and Bradley almost prove that they are borderline sociopaths. I had stopped caring about both characters early in the season, hoping it would get better. It did not. Daniel is one of the most irritating characters since season one. Even Cory has turned into something else. Everyone becomes very unlikeable and stupid. Will not be continuing on with the show. It has passed a point of no return and cannot be salvaged as a believable and interesting series anymore.

Oh No cant Mention Covid
GoldenGooner041 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So many people hate the last episode how dare they mention the most important crisis that has happened in the last 100 years, a crisis that has taken 2 years and counting.

I have Asthma, before the vaccine I felt I had a gun to my head, never been so scared to go out the door, but after the vaccine I got my life back, so for me it's something I will never forget.

Had to move our US holiday 4 times, finally got to the US in April, went to New York and it's still a bizarre place, loads of Covid testing places, some shops have to wear a mask some you don't.

In the future there will be loads of films and TV series made about the Covid, this was a decent try to explain using Jen who was superb in this episode Reece was a bit part, but it seems Reece and Jen have been sharing the episodes, They had a brilliant 1st season on the show and managed in the past 5 episodes to get up to these levels of season 1 All the actors were superb, some of the bit part actors played their parts when needed.

It's taken a long time for the 3rd season to be filmed, how can they match season 1 and 2? With no Steve Carell.

Covid
dctracy7322 November 2021
I thought it was very poignant in that it showed some of what was really going on at the beginning of Covid. It reminded me of the fear we all felt, in the unknown.

Can't possibly be another season
sinnott-7273619 November 2021
If the final episode is any indication of any future writing or continuation of this show, my advice would be to quit while you're ahead. Absolutely dreadful episode, self absorbed and self righteous. It really day time soap opera had more credibility than this episode.

I LOVED this episode.
Debette-119 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, it was pretty much about Jennifer Aniston - oh wait, I mean Alex Levy - telling us her truth about what it's like to be ogled and followed and judged and evaluated by people who don't even know her, and I thought it was awesome. Yes, I agree that she should have done less with hair and makeup, while battling a brutal virus, but the character is on TV every day and it would be natural for her to get dressed up before the broadcast; even so, if she was >that sick<, she shouldn't have looked so good. (Maybe I'm just jealous!). But the content was great, and her range of acting was also great.

For being an hour long episode, basically nothing interesting or important happened. This season has been okay at best, but this was by far the weakest attempt.
