I'ts a great way to get a look at Alaska if you can't get here.I've lived in several Alaskan cities and it's nice to see all the familiar places. If you love Alaska, this is the show to watch. It goes beyond tourist oriented to give a clearer picture of what's it's really like to live here. The host, Geo Beach, can get a little annoying with his accent and some of his vocal mannerisms. The shows are full of facts and information about various cities with many interviews with people who live and work in Alaska and keep it running.Skip the travel channel and watch "Tougher in Alaska" instead. Many other shows are just a video travel brochure, it's nice to see something other than the myth of Alaska... like the reality of Alaska.

Geo Beach

I agree with Snowdog-16 with regard to the Alaskan experiences. While I have never been to Alaska, I can appreciate the people who work there and having to cope with the ever changing weather conditions. The people, the state, and the whole scope of the program is impressive.
I also agree that Geo Beach is annoying to the max. It's like his brain was frozen. I found the show is much more enjoyable by turning off the sound and turning on closed caption and not having to listen to Geo Beach.
A great show and highly recommended as it is much better than your run of the mill "reality TV" shows.
