What do $8 Million USD buy you in Egypt?
grs_dev2 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Apparently the best cast and filmmakers in the country. That doesn't guarantee a good picture though!

The good: The film is above par when compared to other products of the Egyptwood. The camera work is decent. The editing is good. The music is above average. The casting is amazing. Just look at the list of stars and super stars.

The Bad: The directing is just bad! Flashback after flashback and at times with little to no value ad. The plot is just as bad. Too many story lines. Too many abrupt bits and pieces of information.

The Ugly: Wrong information. Slanted views. Biasedness. Some insignificant facts are overly exaggerated. Some very significant ones are barely skimmed. At times the movie reaches to far to deliver its message.***SPOILER**** i.e.: Sarah (played by Leila Alwi) citing G. W. Bush as the root of all conflicts plaguing the world today.***SPOILER***

Conclusion: It's a movie worth watching and studying even because it pushes the Egyptian and Arab cinema forward. It shifts from the traditional Egyptwood political satires to direct criticism of Arab regimes, albeit with a disproportionate amount of criticism to the US and Israel. Hopefully it will be the first of many such movies and hopefully the evolution will be a good one.

G. W. Bush is the reason of world's suffering
loay_7618 November 2008
This movie is a mix of some key effective characters, the main idea of the movie is to spend the new year's eve (2007/2008) in Cairo and what happened in that night: The main Characters of the movie are:

  • G. W. Bush => Although this president didn't appear as a character in the movie,he was one of the main references in the movie for his unfair judgment on the world's problems, his deviations and support to Israel although its invasions and war crimes, also for his invasion to Iraq, his dictatism and ignorance to the free world's will and his excessive usage for the military forces as a solution for every conflict .. By the way .. By the way, pity that the shoe didn't hit him directly in the face in Baghdad as he deserves !!

  • Hossam (Mahmoud Abdel Aziz) => Was one of the best performers in this movie, working as a tourist guide in an Egyptisn tourism Company located in New York city, he was wounded in his manhood genital in the disaster of September 11 WTCs destructions, since then he tried to have medicines to regain his manhood abilities, he bought a Baby Doll from New York which is a delicate night dress for his wife Sameeha (Solaf Fawakhergy) as to spend a memorable night with her in Egypt trying to regain what he lost, in a series of comedy situations and scenes, he failed to spend any time with her and went back to USA alone

  • Awadeen (Nour El Sheriff) => He was an Egyptian rebel who dreamed to gain the peace in the middle east and to overcome the Israeli invasion, His only love Rachel (Ghada Abdel Razek) - Although she was a Jew who wanted to help the Palestinians by forcing the Israeli forces to leave them to peacefully - was killed brutally under an Iraeli tank by the Israeli invasion forces in Ghaza without mercy, Also he was captured and tortured illegally and by sick and brutal ways in Abu Ghareeb's prison in Iraq on the hands of the American soldiers who made him lose his manhood by cutting it under the supervision of Col. Peter (Gameel Rateb) who was the president of Abu Ghareeb's prison who was a role model of the American military invader Colonel and a cold-blooded unmerciful butcher who believe only in the fake wisdom of G. W. Bush, These conditions turned Awadeen into a bloody killer and a terrorist who seeks only revenge from the Americans and murder them, he also killed Shokry (Gamal Soliman) who was his good follower and adviser when he refused to help him destroying the hotel to kill the American tourists as to get rid of Col. Peter

  • Sarah Shinouda (Laila Elwy) => She was the president of Peace friends' international community, when she was conducting a conference in the hotel talking about her beliefs that the American want to grant the piece and freedom, she discovered the truth of G. W. Bush's politics and her country's real behaviors. She was a Jew and her grand mother was murdered unmercifully in a Nazi camp in Czechoslovakia, She also realized that G.W.B although he's not a Nazi, but he does all that he can to be like as Hitler, he's the root of the political problems since he started ruling USA

  • General Mohsen (Mahmoud Hemeeda) => He was a police officer who was chasing Awadeen to catch him before destroying the hotel to kill the American tourists, at last he seized Awadeen and killed him

It's a mix of big Egyptian and Syrian performers who made this film an alive movie ...

As a conclusion thanks god that G. W. Bush will not have a new presidency period and I hope from god that none else of Bush family rules the USA at any time because 2 of the Bushes are more than enough for the world to overcome in a millennium

Sorry Geo !! *** Lo'ay
