Far from lazy

When 'Phineas and Ferb' first started to air, Disney Channel was nowhere near as good as it used to be and still isn't. Instead of the likes of the animated Disney shows of the 80s and 90s, most of it was and still is animated shows with childish humour and Disney Channel sitcoms and unfortunately it tended to not be the good ones. This continued throughout the whole of 'Phineas and Ferb's' run to the extent that this became one of the few shows airing on the Channel worth watching.

In my view, nobody can accuse 'Phineas and Ferb' of being lazy. And again in my view, although neither are favourites of mine, there is nothing lazy about either "Crack That Whip" and "The Best Lazy Day Ever". Liked both very much on the whole, although one subplot in the latter works better in the other and the main plot for "Crack That Whip" was a little more relatable. Though "The Best Lazy Day Ever" deserves credit for making what could have been very mundane interesting enough instead.

Though in that episode, the Perry and Doofenschmirtz subplot works better than the main plot. It is wittier, fresher and has more energy, while Doofenschmirtz's scheme is fascinating in its strangeness and his lines made me smile. The main plot in that episode was actually a good deal more interesting than it sounds on paper but is rather predictable.

"Crack That Whip" is the opposite effect. The main plot is very easy to relate to for anybody who has ever worried about maintaining relationships despite what happened in the past. The Perry and Doofenschmirtz subplot is fun, with some nice little touches with Perry and smile-worthy lines with Doofenschmirtz, but it is not very imaginative here.

The animation is still wonderfully vibrant with very rich attention to detail. The music is dynamic with the action and the theme song is insanely catchy with very clever and quotable lyrics that anybody still in school fishing for how to spend their vacation will relate to. The characters and voice acting are on point.

Summing up, very well done despite both episodes being uneven. 8/10

"Crack That Whip"

A rivalry between old, skilled women is a fun concept on its own. Add the writers of Phineas and Ferb and we have yet another hilarious episode.

"The Best Lazy Day Ever"

Uneventful but still funny. It's a nice reversal of role for Candace.

*This episode probably has my favorite Agent P and Monogram mission briefing scene.
