It's gonna be a freaking long wait during the hiatus
ldamena24 March 2021
S&L gets better with each episode. As I've said before def my favorite DC comic book show on right now for many reasons. The emotions, the acting, the reveals and the big twists this episode had me on the edge of my seat. Liking how they're incorporating some comic book storylines to the show. Intrigued a lot by the X-Kryptonite sl and finding out where it's going with that. I like it even more because as much as this show is a Superman show done right at it's core it's a family drama. That deals with realistic problems that the family deals with because they love each other.

Tiny spoiler I liked that Jon let out his bottled feelings and that led to Clark & Lois dealing with it. Gonna be hard waiting til May for new content.

Warmed my cold heart

Jokes aside, the episode begins with a wave of emotions and makes you feel warm and hopeful. It confirmed for me that not only is this show amazing, but also that he might be the best version of Clark we have. Exactly what we needed during this lonely times.

Amazing set up of events.

One of the greatest decisions then show runners made with this particular series is the pacing, you don't see a huge Superman fight every five minutes, but when you do it feels earned, specially when the series itself is about family.

The main two families are the Kents, and the Cushings, and their tribulations and conflicts are incredibly well depicted in this series, this episode felt like a set-up of something bigger to come, as we also learned more about the antagonist Captain Luthor.

This is a solid series, I can proudly say I have been a fan from day one.

The Best of Smallville is an compelling episode and an example of great storytelling
Holt34424 March 2021
The Best of Smallville is the title of the fifth episode that is directed by the Arrowverse veteran, Rachel Talalay. The episode continues the character and story arcs that we have seen, and this week's episode delivers some of the best moments of Superman and Lois.

Some things to remember from the previous episodes is the reveal of Captain Luthor being from another earth and that he confronted Sam Lane which was his best friend back on his earth, the other villain being Morgan Edge and how his secretary is Leslie Larr who has the same powers as Clark Kent. In the previous episode we found out the reason why Morgan Edge is in Smallville, for X-Kryptonite and it gives people powers. But the episode has the Kent family prepare for the annual Harvest Fest, there's some great performances throughout the episode, and the most important thing is how real the performances feel. Amazing character portrayals.

This could possibly be the best episode since the pilot episode, it has everything a Superman show needs to have and they have successfully done it. The quality of the writing haven't decreased, it's been the same but this episode truly went above the previous quality, from the story to the dialogue everything is just perfect. With this episode, Superman and Lois have proved itself to be one of the best Arrowverse shows, and might possibly be the best. I can't wait for the show to come back, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Dylan Kingwell Universe
yusufpiskin24 March 2021
The director of this episode, Rachal Talalay, previously directed 'Supernatural and Legends of Tomorrow'. Dylan Kingwell played in 'Supernatural'. Furthermore, Dylan is a fan of The Flash. So he knows his DC heroes very well. The production didn't work with random people. Every actor / director has the spirit of the 'dc universe'. Already this is reflected in quality.

The Best of Superman and Lois.
wetmars26 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Beautiful with defining character development, establishing relationships, fixing problems. The ending was mind-blowing. Lex is stalking Clark and Lois. He is suspicious of wherever Superman goes, Lois Lane follows. It is revealed that Luthor had a relationship with Lois Lane in his world. Speaking of Lois Lane, I am liking her. She is the best! Incredible job. I will keep saying this. The characters feel so real. Now, Luthor? He is very intelligent, takes caution. It is a shame that the show is going on a long hiatus. I was enjoying it so much. The flashback scenes are well-done like we had flashbacks on Arrow in the Early Seasons. The Lois Lane plotline is worth engaging. She is stepping her game up with her reporter. I do like how they sort-of made Jordan the main focus. He is getting along with Sarah more. Shame that Jonathan interrupted and made a scene right there making the two pissed off. The scene where Superman was chasing Derek was super fun. Jonathan is getting his character fleshed out if you know what I mean. It kinda gets annoying when he lashes out at Clark and Lois. 10/10.

If this show were an alcoholic beverage, it would be milk.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was pretty bland. Not much happens. Jordan is happy again (thank god), and has his first date with Sarah. Jonathan finaly blows up after being dumped by his Metropolis girlfriend over the phone. All of Jonathans emotions in this episode were believable and waranted. Poor guy. He thought he had everything, now he's learning life lessons. Welcome to the party pal.

The only real thing of note was 'Nosey reporter lady' does what she does best. Be super nosey by using fake hollywood mobile phone tricks to crack the case on the super powered people popping up. Why was this reveal treated so blandly? This should have been massive.

Superman immediately turns up by crashing through the celling instead of using a door. The guy who seemingly just got super powers tells the super chick to 'protect the asset' and then flies off. Superman being an absolute moron, just flies after him instead of investigating and or destroying the device that could obviously make more supers. 'Batman Worlds Greatest Detective' he ain't.

Later Supes and Lois have a conversation about knowing it has something to do with the mine. Supes, being an investigative reporter with super powers doesn't think to go check out the mine? Absolutely moronic. Man this show is such a slow burn.

Why was Sarah acting so nasty to Jonathan? Because her father had a few drinks after a colleague almost died? There needed to be a flashback or two showing her fathers insinuated drinking problem, and how it affected her and her family. Without it, it just seemed like she didn't like anyone having fun. How DARE anyone have fun.

Luthor is back this episode, which is good, because it's about the only interesting plot line in this show. I kept hearing Seal's 'Kiss from a rose' whenever he was on screen. The twist at the end with him being with lois in the other dimension is the love triangle no one wants, or asked for. Great, they just ruined his character arc. Oh but think of the depth, I hear you whine... Okay. Fine. There's depth, but it's just feeeeeeeeeeeelings.... I shouldn't be surprised. It's the CW's specialty.

Is it just me or does Lana have only one outfit in this show? Wardrobe department. Get on that.

Ultimately, this show is for those who want a 'Clark and Lois and family show'. There just isn't enough Supes to keep fans interested. It's Blandsville, Tennessee. DC just continues to ruin it's own product. If it's not a Batman show about everyone else other than Batman, it's this tripe.

I'm willing to bet the only people that really think this is a 9 or 10/10 show are the people posting ridiculously positive reviews on here. I hope all 10 of you enjoy it. I'm done.

The Best of The CW
demigodshmurda27 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Superman and Lois has me impressed so far. I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying it. It's not a perfect show by any means, but it's a show about a family, which is the exact show we need right now with the world still in quarantine.

Starting off with the negatives, the twins teen angst has a shelf life to it. At the very least, the angst or anger or whatever is understandable on their ends FOR NOW. I can see this turning into an Iris West-Allen situation where we're hearing "we are Superman" every other episode. For now, it's not that bad though. As long as the outbursts from these two remain realistic reactions to the events happening in their lives, I will remain cautiously optimistic that this will still be bearable. Their lives are messy and complicated, and that's how high school is supposed to be! Still, something to keep in mind about maybe tuning this down in the coming weeks.

As for the villain plan this week, we're learning a bit more about Edge's big scheme, but it's still ambiguous as it should be. Obviously, he's giving humans kryptonian abilities, but why? For what purpose? Obviously it's nothing good, but it's unknown for now, which I like. Not much more on the Edge front except that this week. I have a feeling next week will be bigger.

We got more Lex this week, and I'm excited! I've been on board with this new Lex since WEEK ONE! We're getting little snippets of his history every time we see him, and it totally works. Where in week two we learned that he served in the military with Samuel Lane, this week we learned that he was with Lois. Not sure why Sam would allow that since he barely allows it with frickin Superman, but this show hasn't had many noticeable missteps yet, so I'm willing to forgive it. I can see this new Lex going the way of Injustice Superman maybe, but that might just be me fanboying. I did like him trying to get closer to Lois in this episode too. She's apprehensive of him, obviously, but I have a feeling this dynamic can be explored further, and will probably develop into something down the road. Maybe we'll get a scene at the end of next week where she asks his name and he says...

Hang on, what do we call this new Lex? Obviously, he can't go by Lex since, you know, Jon Cryer's Lex still exists in this universe. Maybe he goes by Alex? Alexander? Maybe Xander? He looks like a "Xander" to me. Could be fun to toy around with his name a bit. Have some fun with it, writers! Go crazy! Just not too crazy, please? I trust ya, but you gotta make it reasonable.

Tyler Hoechlin is still amazing as Clark and Superman. He's a total nerd, and I love it! Seriously, you have no idea how cool it is for SUPERMAN to have nerd face! Elizabeth Tulloch is also proving to be a capable Lois Lane. I wasn't originally sold since she appears to look a bit older than Tyler Hoechlin, but she's growing on me pretty fast. The family drama and dynamic is well handled thus far, and I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would.

I also liked all the stuff with Young Clark. Dylan Kingwell absolutely looks like a young Tyler Hoechlin, so the casting department earned their paychecks this week. Seeing Young Clark dealing with the dilemma of growing up and moving out of Smallville was heartbreaking, and the flashbacks were spliced into the episode really well. I got Arrow season one vibes it was done so well. I'm not saying we should make this the norm, but I'm saying that it worked this week.

Episode overall felt a bit filler-y, but it was bearable since all the "filler" was character work and plot stuff. So I guess there isn't actually any filler. I don't know why I said that. This one was great! Solid 9/10! Can't wait for next week!

Oh, the show's going on hiatus? For how long? TWO MONTHS?? Okay, what's it being replaced with? SUPERGIRL?? BECAUSE GOD FORBID WE HAVE TWO KRYPTONIAN LEAD SHOWS ON AT THE SAME TIME, HUH CW??

The Best of Smallville
Prismark1012 January 2022
So far Superman and Lois have been doing the teen drama bits well.

Since the move to Smallville. The confident Jonathan has suffered. He has been upstaged by his emo brother Jordan at football.

Now as the town celebrates HarvestFest. Jonathan has been dumped by his girlfriend, Jordan gets a date.

It also has flashbacks to young Clark Kent deciding it was time for him to leave Smallville.

The arc is not forgotten. Captain Luthor thinks Lois Lane would be his route to Superman.

While Superman gets near to just what Morgan Edge might be up to and how he might be creating people with superpowers.

The episode has an effective balance of the various story strands. Captain Luthor is the more intriguing villain, only because he is from a parallel universe where he is the hero.

Ugh, I hate Luthor. This is not his world. I can't wait to see Superman defeat him.

Another episode with 60 seconds of Superman
freshie888826 March 2021
Honestly, this show is more about the teen age children than anything. The CW should never be trusted with iconic things like Superman. They only know wokeness and utter destruction. This is a SLAP right in the face for what we know to be Superman.

Bad drama's getting to me
scarlettyforest2 July 2021
There is some okay Superman/Lois content here, but this would be so much better if it weren't for the cringey teen drama moments & flat dialogue. It does such a disservice to all the other elements of the filmmaking that's excelling. The big sin of this show was splitting Jon Kent into two characters and destroying comic book Superboy, the least they could do was not make the substitute kids completely unrecognisable as characters. I'm still watching but :/
